Type your medical question hereI i am 48 and enjoying a good health. But for the last few days i was feeling that i have been suffering from diabetes after the symptoms. At random checked the sugar was 130. Doctor said it is normal no problem. But when i weigh it is 6 kg less with in one week . Please tell me what is the cause of the frequent weight loss? Thanks
Blood sugar of 130 may or may not be significant - it would depend on when you ate in relation to taking the test. If you only ate an hour or so before testing, then 130 would probably not be significant because it's normal for your blood sugar to rise after eating; the issue comes in when your blood sugar doesn't go down, such as overnight. If you were to get up in the morning and have a fasting blood sugar of 130, I would be concerned.
Weight loss can be caused by many things. Are you sure you are eating enough to keep your blood sugar at steady levels?
What symptoms do you have that make you think of diabetes?
Maybe you should get your thyroid tested to see if you have hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid). This can cause weight loss also.
