You can also try various spices, such as cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, etc in place of actual sweeteners. I've found that I don't really need to add an actual sweetener, because most foods are sweet enough with a bit of spice in them... Depending on what you're fixing, you can also use applesauce, muddled blueberries, strawberries, etc to make recipes taste sweeter.
Hi JC.
I don't trust much big corporations and most of their manufactured goods.
let's say I'm old-fashioned.
Truvia is sweetener made from stevia, which is natural, however, the process of converting into an ingredient Rebiana-I think it's proprietary to Coca Cola- makes me question it. It has the lowest amount of calories, which is close to zero.
The question is, besides the above concern, when we take a sweetener with 0 calories, how does the body react, when sweetness is detected, however the calories which are normally associated , are absent.
The human brain responds to sweetness with signals to eat more!
By providing a sweet taste , however, calorie-free or low calorie sweeteners cause us to crave more sweet foods and drinks, which can add up to excessive calories.
Honey is healthier than brown sugar, which is not much different than white sugar, but either way both are mainly carbs with more carbs than Truvia!
I personally use an all natural pure coconut sap, which looks like brown sugar, but has minerals and vitiamins, with a low glycemic index of only 35.
Worth looking into it.
Best wishes,
NIko
