Dieting over the holidays am I crazy?

Okay I'm trying to lose weight and watch what I eat because I am overweight (obviously or I wouldn't be here) actually probly into the obese category I don't really want to know but probly should I'm 5' 10" and I weigh about 215ish  I had gotten down (lost 40 and put 25 back on) but I hurt my back at work and couldn't keep up my excersize routine.  I mean it's crazy I was doing so well with diet and walking and I got hurt.  It really put me into a bad place because I was still overweight and I wanted to lose so badly and couldn't excersize at all.  FRUSTERATED doesn't begin to explain it.  Then I got depressed, I was in pain all of the time etc.  my mother is sick and my relationship with my husband rocky.  Okay that's the background, I had my back surgery and I am really excited to start losing weight again.  Am I insane to start this at this time the holiday season etc?  Any advice?

you're not insane to start losing weight now.  the best advice is when you think about and get the motivation, do it right away or else you are going to post pone it... because "it can wait another day".  you dont want that to happen.
