500 Cal diet w/HCG verses 500 Cal diet without

Since I've been on both diets:  500 cal without HCG and 500 cal with HGC, thought I'd relate my experiences for those Naysayers who keep saying 'Anyone can lose on a 500 calorie diet, HCG is useless'.  No one disagrees that you can lose on a 500 cal diet with ow without HCG, but you have to look at the whole picture. How do you feel on the diet?  Can you stick with the diet?  Can you maintain your weight afterwards?

3 months ago, before I heard about HCG I attempted a 500 Calorie diet to reduce the affects of RA(Rhuematoid Arthritis). Actually I wanted to FAST because having been under a 14 day medically supervised fast (water only) 3 years ago, I knew what miraculous results I got. I was close to wheelchair bound when I checked in, but came out 24 days later with no Arthritis symptoms at all (and I lost 16 lbs).  I couldn't Fast this time because I couldn't take off work, so I opted to do a 500 Calorie diet so I could still go to work.

500 Cal diet, NO HCG:  I originally intended to do this diet for 14+ days, however I was so miserable I didn't last but 7 days even though I was highly motivated. I was having another severe episode from my RA and needed relief.  Losing weight was only a secondary reason for the diet.  I was hungry all the time and it was extremely difficult to stay on the diet.  After work I would go home and crash on the sofa from exhaustion. I started cheating a little on the 5th day and by the 7th day I made the decision I could not do this diet any longer!  I only lost 3.3 lbs during that time.  My food composition was very similar to what I'm eating now, but I had more veggies and fruits to choose from.  I gained those 3.3 lbs back plus 2.5 more after I came off the diet.

500 Cal diet with HCG/Simeon Plan.  This is my 7th day on the HCG/Simeon diet so I figured it would be a good time to compare them (since I made it 1 week on the non-HCG plan).  I have felt very well the entire 7 days, no hunger pangs until the end of the day when I took no shot (yesterday). I am not miserable like I was on the diet w/out HCG.  I have lost 5 lbs (net), even with the 2 loading days, and I'm pretty excited about how this is going.  I haven't had any inclination to stop, whereas on the non-HCG diet I couldn't stand it any longer by the 7th day. I do have some loss of energy, but not as bad as when I was on the non-hcg plan.

Summary: In my opinion the 500 Cal diet with HCG has so many benefits over doing the diet without HCG! (feeling of well-being, no hunger pangs, not miserable).  In fact, I got some added benefits on the HCG diet. The swelling in my ankles, knees, and elbows went down drastically by the 3rd day on HCG. It didn't go down at all on the non-HCG diet and it took 10 days fasting before the swelling went down 3 yrs ago.  Another benefit I experienced on HCG: I quit coughing.  After months and months of 'fuzzy irriated throat' and coughing, It just stopped after the 2nd day on HCG shots!

the reason why you dont 'feel' as hungry with 500 cals & HCG is because your body fat  stores are FULL and your bodys glycogen levels are full....thats what the over feed is before you start..as your body adjusts..you will be back to normal...like me or hate me..why you people wont listen is odd..i showed you 100% what HCG is and does..and it does not help with hunger nor weight loss..

I believe you are wrong!  I had a problem eating on the Load Days - didn't really 'load up' that much.  In addition, the one day I did not take the HCG shot, my 'Off' day, I started to get hungry toward late afternoon.

Guess the next 2 weeks will tell the story - whether I get hungry or not..

for you that might be the case..keep us posted..and good luck

The reason your 500 calorie-a-day without HCG was unsuccessful, was probably because your body needs more calories than that to sustain itself. The body probably went into starvation mode and started storing the fat. I don't know what the HCG does to counter-act that starvation mode and hunger feelings, but I have a feeling that's probably why you didn't see any success without it. You were litterally starving yourself!

Don't think it works that way. When you are on a 500  Calorie diet, your body is not storing anything - it's using all your 500 calories taken in plus going after more fuel from your fat cells that were created when you over ate. That's how you lose, the fat cells get emptied out and used for fuel.

I spent 24 days at a Residential, medically supervised fasting center 3 years ago.  I fasted on water only for 14 days, while 2 others fasted for 40 days.  While you are there, you rest mostly, but watch videos and attend live lectures 2-3 times a day.  I learned a lot about how the body works when fasting or on a VLCD (very low Calorie Diet).  The center I'm referring to only takes patients with Medical conditions to correct. I was defintely one of those, severe case of RA (Rhuematoid Arthritis), but I also lost 16 lbs.  Lost 19 lbs while fasting but gained 3 back during the re-feeding process (something they require before releasing you).

AS long as you have 'extra fat cells', you are not 'starving'. The body gets the fuel it needs from your stored fat.  You might be interested to know that there is a clinic in Australia that fasts obese people for over 100 days, and they do fine.  There is a point, when you have no extra fat cells, that it becomes dangerous to Fast or be on a VLCD. The body still tries to attain more fuel by going after your structured fat needed by your body, then going after your organs.

One more interesting tidbit before I close:  By the 5th day of Fasting, your body no longer 'physically craves food'.  Fasting was actually easier than that 7 day 500 calorie diet I tried without HCG, where I was hungry all the time. That was the worst experience I've had trying to diet. The diet with HCG is a breeze.

fat cells cant be lost...burned..or removed..(with out liposuction) ..fat cells only shrink..and always hold the will to go right back to there original size..and you have fat cells for life..and when they spill over and make new fat cells..you have them for life..in scientific terms..the only true way to shrink a fat cells is starving it..is this healthy no..im makeing a medical point..HCG wont work..B-12 wont work..phent wont work..and drugs that try to tell your brain your not hungry will not work..

Wow, that is some interesting info. I never knew that about fasting. However, I have heard/read from many different sources about the "starvation" mode the body goes into...so I'm still not quite sure about that being untrue. Maybe it depends on the person's body size? For example, if someone only needs to lose about 50 pounds...compared to someone who needs to lose 150 pounds...?

Anyways, good luck on the weight-loss!

this is the real truth between the 2 diets..

WITH 500 CALS AND HCG
injecting uriine proved not 100% safe..can cause birft defects and never proven to do anything to fat cells..(most girls gain weight while pregant ,and get ever lose it.lol) and infant requires 1,200 calories a day..you want to eat 500..hmm
*all weight would come back if any lost..the 2nd you stop..

800-1,5000 calories with out HCG
real weight loss..no pills...no powders...no URINE and no side affects,no books..no sales pictches from criminals...NO TRICKS more food..and all types all forms with in common sense.. now tell me..which is better ?

I tried the diet with and without hCG and it was hell, lasted 3 days w/o even though on fake "alternative hCG" pills.  Do not buy them.  They are a rip off.  I am on day 8 with shots, not hungry, losing 1 pound a day, have energy (didn't with pills).  Very happy with results.  Can easily make it 6 weeks on this diet -- no problem.  Seeing one pound a day disappear is incentive enough.  And I'm not even exercising.  Walking 10 - 60 mins a day, and 60 only 2 x a day, if that.

Got prescription and shots through www.ghimedical.com.  $400 for lab work (Lab Corp) and consultation with doctor over phone (they are in Florida).  Had to have a form filled out by a doctor (weight, height, blood pressure) -- went to a walk in clinic, $65, and $212 for shots.   Started the shots, super easy, no pain, no marks even, self-administered.  1/4 inch long needle.

Also, Pounds and Inches manuscript can be found at http://hcgdietinfo.com/HCG_Diet_Dr_Simeons_Manuscript.htm

I have been on Kevin Trudeau's Phase I for about 3 weeks and am motivated and dedicated to continuing with the next phases.  I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing with the hCG. I have been seriously considering the ghimedical way to go, but I have to admit I'm hesitant to spend the money for the doctors to review my records, etc.  Did you review other options?  Did you run into any difficulties with ghimedical?  I appreciate your help and am so happy for you that things are going well for you.

I start the HCG injections on 05/06/08. Prior to started the injections, I have had two colonics (colon cleansing), stopped eating red meat, modified my diet two weeks prior to starting, and I also had an IV chelation therapy. I'm going to do the shots every day for a 4 week period and go to the doctor every week for a weigh in.I have done my research prior to starting this diet. Yes, you do lose weight, (with the possibility of regaining) but I don't plan to do that. I plan to continue the diet regimen the doctor has given to me, while gradually increasing my caloric intake to the RDA. I currently weigh 127 and I'm 4"11 1/2 which means all my weight is in my thihgs and belly  (have 2 kids). so I want a fresh start ...and HCG will help me get the ball rolling. I joined the gym work out 3x week and plan on being 105lbs which was my pre-baby weight. I will keep all of you posted.

I am going to share my personal experience.  Someone will probably come along afterward to bash me - I don't care.

I am a 5' 10" 42 year old Male.  On January 22, 2008 I started the 500 cal HCG diet with an injection administered on weekdays by a bariatric doctor (no shots at all on weekends.)  My weigh-in that day was 290 lbs.  On March 31, 2008 my weigh-in was 215 lbs.  I cheated ONE day in that time - Feb 14th.  I lost 21 lbs the first week alone; 28 lbs by the 14th day.

I cheated during stabilization (ended stabilization in the mid-220's) and then during maintenance (Protein Power - Phase 2; <55 gram daily ECC) fell completely of the wagon on the third month post-HCG and gained back to 255 lbs.  I am now in the middle of another 4 week round of HCG and lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks - almost exactly the same results as the first time.

During all of this I have done barely any exercise.  I am sure my maintenance would be better if I did, but I friggin' hate it!

I used to take Prevacid every day to avoid terrible reflux and even with Actos+Metformin my morning fasting blood sugar was never lower than 165 and my scrip-happy doctor at the time was about to put me on Insulin.  Within 2 days of starting the diet I was below 120 blood sugar and I have not taken any med whatsoever in 7 months.  My reflux is gone and my blood sugar is completely normal - 90ish when not cheating; 110ish when I am.  I consider the elimination of the scrips alone to be worth the cost of the HCG program.  My new doctor is tickled at my blood work. (The scrip happy doc dropped me just because I started the HCG program.  Blatant big-Pharm shill!)

Everyone has different results.  But what I can say from my experience is to ignore the naysayers that are bashing HCG to lose weight.  I have had completely spectacular results.  Also ignore the low-carb naysayers - it works great when you follow it, although I agree it is not always easy to avoid cheating.  (Love my carbs!)

I am not someone who likes to exercise and I tend to eat badly when I fall off the wagon so this will keep coming back to bite me.  But even if I have to do a 4-week round of HCG two or three times per year, it is well worth it to me.

The HCG injections are the only real HCG. After the program, it is important to keep up a healthy diet, which means a change in lifestyle. This includes daily exercise. A person cannot go back to their "old" way of eating and living. The program is a perpetual road to a "new" life, a "new" start. I found that out myself. I really cant stand anything too sweet anymore, and foods that are very high in fat disgust me. Fried foods have been out for a long time. I do more walking  and dont live inside anymore. It is a great feeling.

Hi, I am a 54 year old woman and have been on every diet you could ever imagine.  I have been obese since childhood and am just now trying hcg. This is my first week and I did suffer from hunger thorought the week but the nurse increased my dose and I am hoping this is going to help with the hunger.  My results for this week: 9.4 lb loss.  My blood pressure has gone down to 106/68.  It was only 121/80 last week but less is more in this case.

I do go to the clinic once a week and get weighed in enjoy talking with the others who are there and we share our success stories for the week.  I have to admit one thing though, I am starving for vegetables.  I do not like most of the small list that they give you so I am kind of stuck there.  I have to force myself to eat the veggies but what the heck.

Just wanted to share and I  am so happy that most of you out there have success stories to share.  You are all a great inspiration to me.

I am considering this diet and have my first consultation next week.  I am very scared and nervous because I have never done anything like this before in my life, I never had to but since having my first baby exersize and diet just isn't working anymore and believe me I have tried for 9months now - no idea why but I have only lost 1lbs.  But I have never even so much as had to count calories before.  Someone please tell me this stuff really doesnt cause Birth defects, I still want to have more babies.  And urine??? is that true, I don't know if I can handle it - maybe I am not that desperate yet.  Someone please be honest with me?

I have been on the Hcg shots for almost 3 wks and I have to say this has been pretty easy.  I have lost 18 lbs and lost 24 inch the first 2 weeks....go back tonight for more measurements.  I can only say that I have tried most diets and they have not been as successful as this one has.  I am 42 yr old female and have always been heavy....I enjoy food and have never done well with diets because I like quantity of food and most diets leave me feeling hungry.  I can say that the hcg has really helped me to avoid those hungry feelings and that I have had more energy than normal.

I have my 15 yr old daughter on this to and she has already lost 13lbs and is feeling great too!  I hope that we can continue to do this well and I would recommend this to anyone who needs to lose more than 30-40lbs but you do have to be ready to watch what you eat and be faithful to the diet plan for this to work.  Any cheats usually set someone back 3 days so not worth the cheating to me!!!  I figure that I can do anything for 40 days!

One more thing.  Without the Walden Farms products, I think this would be a harder diet.  I just love all thier products and they taste good too!

Right now if you go to www.waldenfarms.com/ww they have a buy 1 get 1 free offer and you can purchase up to 5 items and get 5 free.....good deal!

Good luck to all those on the diet and pls keep posting so we can all see what everyone has to say.

Started taking the oral drops today, 11-15-08, and beginning the diet today.  Probably a wrong time to do it, but I am hoping to be at least 25 lbs lighter (or more) by Christmas.  I take the drops in the morning and the evening 12 hours apart.  I will keep you posted on how I do.

Correction on BlueKnight318:  I started the diet on 11/25/08.  Today is 12/02/08 and I have dropped 8 lbs.  On my days off from work I did not keep the strict diet but let myself enjoy a little without going overboard.  Today Tuesday, my work week begins and I will again be strict on the diet until my next days off.

Since I have looked into this myself I feel like I should share the information that I have recieved. With the help of a very intelligent pharmacist I have learned some very interesting facts about this Human Continuious Growth Hormone (HCG). I think that people are going to gung-hoe about this produst because it does give very quick results. However; I think they need to look at the long term effects as well. It can possibly cause kidney failure, hypothyriod, and in the very long run it has a possibility of causing cancer. This is also the hormone that causes gestational diabeties. I think that if you are injecting anything into your body you are bound to have consequences. I am not trying to discourage people from losing the weight that they want/need to lose I think that it is great. But on the particular diet it is the 500 calorie diet that helps you lose the weight not the shot. Any time you take your diet from a normal 2500 calories to 500 calories you'll lose weight. All the shot does is suppress your hunger to make it a little bit more comfortable for people to handle. It is all about the food that you put into your body. Your body is only going to lose the weight it needs to in order to find a healthy balance. I hope that whatever you find will help you out but I felt like I should share the information that I've recieved. Thanks for taking the time to read and God Bless.

hCG is human chorionic gonadotropin, not 'human continuous growth hormone. I would question that "pharmacist" if that is what they told you hCG was.
Along the same logic of your statements: The following statement is absolutely true: Water Causes Seizures. This is absolutely 100% true. However, there is a great deal of info left out between the 'drinking water' and 'causing seizures' part. It is the same idea with the truth that hCG is involved with 'gestational diabetes' and 'causes kidney failure, hypothyroid and cancer' statements. These are way out of context. The hCG weight loss protocol is very safe. There has never been an issue noted concerning it causing kidney failure or any other system failure ever. The does used in the weight loss is far less than the much larger doses used for other issues. It is not FDA approved for weight loss. But it is safe. The shot does not just suppress hunger. There are other physiologic responses that occur that allows for weight loss to occur.

That is a short version of a response that needs to be more detailed....

btw, an infant does not need 1200 calories per day (where did you get that number!?)  Infants need about 100 calories per kilogram of weight.  So average infant is 3kg or about 7 lbs and would need 300 calories per day.  Adults need significantly less calories per pound/kilogram of weight more like 30 cal/kg.  Just saying, you can't really compare anything about calories between children and adults.  Also try to be careful about giving "medical" information when you clearly do not have knowledge of this particular subject.

Okay I had to comment - I am considering doing the hcg diet because since my hypothryoidism diagnosis have put on 15 pounds and I workout and eat right - though the fatigue has been unbearable so lifting weights and cardio is a lot harder..but I'm not sure the diet will work for me...because my metabolism is messed up from my thyroid..

.anyway - I work in an emergency room - and my mom and about 10 other nurses did this hcg diet as well as my sister.  They all lost weight.  Everybody lost over 20 pounds.  My sister lost 16 but she didn't have as much to lose.  Nobody worked out while doing this because they were afraid to - afraid they wouldn't have the energy and most of them don't work out.  Oh and there is one girl who lost only ten pounds but again - she barely had 10 pounds to lose.  Nobody was starving but I do remember my mom saying that she felt okay as long as she ate when she had to..if she waited which happened sometimes because she does 12-16 hour shifts and it gets busy in the ER - then she would feel hungry but once she ate..she was fine and after a while..she sometimes had to remember to go eat and force it because she didn't have an appetite.

This diet isn't really a diet - it's more of a kick start..and I will mention it is mainly veggies and protein..no bread or anything.  It is supposed to reset your metabolism and get you back to eating healthy and not craving sugars and carbs.  After the "diet" is over you go back to eating normal but the idea is that you won't want to eat like you did before because your metabolism has been reset.  But you can't just start eating chips and soda...you have to keep eating healthy... I think it's great for people who really want to start eating right and exercising.  But it isn't for people if they want a quick fix and have no intention on changing their habits for life.

Also - all the nurses gained the weight back except for those who still eat right and work out.  My mom, another nurse, and my sister have kept it off..and they don't starve themselves..but they eat more salads, veggies and protein, fruit etc..and they work out.  The other nurses went back to their old habits within a year.
