Getting off Depo-Provera because of weight gain

I have been on depo for years now and just recently have gained lot of weight quickly. I'd say at LEAST 20 pounds in about 3 months. I have made the decision to stop the depo recently too, in the hopes my weight will go back down. Nothing has happened yet, but it is still in my system. I am just not going to take another shot. I have talked to so many people who gained weight on the shot and had it go back to normal once they got off it. Anybody else had this experience?

You will continue to gain on Depo Provera.
After childbirth, without Depo Provera, you would be loosing weight.

Do NOT breastfeed your child while on Depo Provera.

Hi, I know we all have been saying the same thing but this was my experience. I was put on the shot at 14 and got off of it at 19. I never had a period that whole time and loved it. I went three months without having one when i got off. Now its been a month and a half and i cant stop bleeding. Its horrible. When I was 18 i wore a size three and within 4 months i was in a size 7 then a ten. I got off the depo and my wieght fell off. Im back in 3 :).
Now that im off I noticed im not moody or want to eat and feel depressed
all the time. All i wanted to do was sleep. Now I dont have any of that. Yes
it nice to not have to worry about it everyday, but its not worth getting fat, and feeling depressed. I would rather have a kid. Which now im honestly scared I cant have kids. And thats the worst feeling only being 19. PLEASE Dont get on the Shot it will save a lot of pain.

I was on depo for 2 years and in that time I gained about 100 pounds. I have been off it for 16 months now and have only lost about 10 pounds. I got my first period about 2 months ago and it still hasn't ended (very heavy too.) I went to my doctor and have gone threw a string of tests and they all come back normal, my hormones are apparently normal (I don't feel normal!!!!) I feel so stupid making this uninformed decision at 16 just so I wouldn't have a baby!
