Thank you for your input (: unfortunately i have already bought the medicine. I think I may try it for a while. I dont have much to lose. I was told the people who quit the pill cold turkey will definately gain the weight back, but the ones who lower the dosage and gradually stop taking it hasn't had a problem gaining the weight back at all (: which is good. today has been my first dosage and i am on a 30 mg instead of the full dosage. that way if there are negative side effects it wont harm my body to quit. I have had my thyroids checked because my great aunt was diagnosed with thyroid cancer so it was possible i had problems. everything came back perfect. the only problem i have with my body is my high cholesterol which is why i have been put on this pill and a very low cholesterol diet. today i feel great, but i will for sure keep everyone updated with this pill. (: i really do appreciate your comment and i am grateful for your concern (: its nice to know there are caring people out there (:
I've never taken phentermine, but I know people who have....... yep, some lost weight, but as soon as they stopped taking it, they gained it all back; some even gained more. Others didn't lose anything at all.
Instead of taking a diet pill, it sounds like you should have your doctor check your thyroid. You need to have TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 tested. The thyroid controls metabolism and if it malfunctions, losing weight is nearly impossible. Both weight gain/inability to lose and high cholesterol are classic symptoms of thyroid malfunction, as is constipation, fatigue, dry skin/hair, hair loss, joint/muscles aches/pains, and a lot of others.
You could have a postpartum hypothyroidism, which is often temporary, but still requires replacement medication. The main cause of hypothyroidism is an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. With Hashimoto's, the body sees the thyroid as foreign and produces antibodies to destroy it. The destruction process can take years, but as it progresses, thyroid function decreases, until it can no longer produce hormones.
Another thing you might want to get checked for is insulin resistance.
