Wonko is so right............ If you constantly deprive yourself of all "the good stuff", you are only setting yourself up for failure.
Maybe you could try eating the same things your family eats, only much smaller portions and if you are still hungry, go for some more salad, fresh veggies or fruits. Also, concentrate on the higher protein and fiber foods as they will help fill you up faster and keep you feeling fuller longer.
Whenever you "diet" you have to be sure that you plan a program that you can stick with for the long haul. I believe you posted a few days ago about some of the things you were eating. It sounded good for the short term, but as I recall did not seem to be something that you could stay with indefinitely, which is the goal.
I also don't see anything about what type of exercise you are engaging in. Exercise is key to any weight loss program, so depriving yourself of all your favorite foods is not going to do a lot of good anyway, if you don't exercise.
Good luck.
Your are right that if you make your diet too strict, you'll set yourself up for failure. This is precisely why a lot of fad diets--even unsound ones--work in the short-term, but fail in the long term: ANY plan that restricts you to taking in less energy than you burn will cause weight loss. However, if it's too inflexible, you will inevitably crack and binge, often gaining the weight back (and sometimes more).
This is why you'll often hear that "moderation is key." If you let yourself have a small piece of cake once in awhile, you'll have no reason to go nuts and eat a whole cake. I know it's not easy to "trust" yourself with sweets or salty snacks or whatever your favorite "bad" food is. But with time and practice, you can learn to savor occasional small portions, and this will help you keep your cool and control over your eating.
