I just want to say thank you... I had it removed in May 2013.. I had all those tested 4 times since. I am on 175mcg synthetic hormone therapy. I eat very healthy. I go to the gym some weeks 3-5 days a week. Some workout be 3 hours long.. So this week I am trying to eat a little lighter. But I need those calories for the hard workouts that I do
Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase .....
The first pointer I'll give you is to make sure your thyroid hormone levels are right for you. Even though your levels may be in the "normal" range, they might not be high enough for you. You need to be tested regularly, for Free T3, Free T4 and TSH. Inadequate treatment for hypothyroidism is a major cause of inability to lose weight.
While exercise is very important, you also need to make sure you're eating a healthy diet and keeping calories in check.
