"Yes you are right that after 40 years women starts feeling less active, they don’t have much energy to work actively. So they spent (sic) most of the time in eating and sleeping."  Your profile says you are male, and this may be your experience with women and weight gain, but it's unreasonable  to assume that the majority of women over 40 spend all their time eating and sleeping, just because they turned 40.

While metabolism may slow at around age 40, I don't agree that women (or anyone, for that matter) start feeling less active, nor do I agree that we necessarily have to gain weight.

I've always been small, and never had a weight problem, in spite of 20+ years at desk jobs.  In fact, many times, I was actually under weight, including the time spent going through menopause.  My weight never gave me any trouble until I was 56 and my thyroid stopped working; unfortunately, I wasn't tested/diagnosed for over a year, and without adequate thyroid hormones, there was nothing I could do to stop the weight gain.

Because the thyroid is the major controller of metabolism, anyone who starts gaining weight, should not just "assume" that it's because they've hit a certain age.  Adequate medical tests should always be done to  rule out any medical issues that cause weight gain, such as hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, PCOS, etc.  One should also always look at the medications they take to determine if they might be a cause for weight gain.

By the same token, one should not assume that because they hit 40, weight gain is inevitable.

Hello,
Yes you are right that after 40 years women starts feeling less active, they don’t have much energy to work actively. So they spent most of the time in eating and sleeping. Yes, this is the fact that everyone should have a complete sleep but more eating and sleeping can be harmful, so try to do all your office work along with household work this will balance your energy. After this you need not to go for any other exercise and all, if your weight is fine according to your BMI then its ok. Otherwise consult your doctor and start workout and proper diet plan.

Hi!
Yes, most women gain weight in their 40s, or need to stay really active in order not to put on weight. However, there is no hard and fast rule. Many women keep active in older ages too, but yes, age does slow down your some of your reflexes to some extent. If you feel a bit heavy while moving, take up some activity you enjoy like swimming, jogging, walking, cycling etc. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
