Induce labor why? A doctor can't just induce labor because there is a health issue with the baby and you don't want him or her anymore. And inducing at 26 weeks means the baby is more likely to have even more health issues in the future... Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds like you're looking for a late term abortion? Which is illegal in most, if not all, states.

Yes late term abortion is illegal but the health problems are bad and can cause my child to have to suffer and go through surgery all her life. I want to end my preganacy because I dont won't her to hurt  and the reason it's late is because they just told me a few days ago

I honestly dont think the doctor will allow you to be induced now. Have you tried talking to them about what to expect and the difficulties she may have. She will probably have to have a shunt fitted shortlyafter birth to drain fluid from the brain... this will have to be changed but not very often providingthere are no complications. Im so sorry for your daughter and you... it wont be easy but im not sure there are many other options but to take care of her as best u can.x

yes I did talk to them about all the problems she might have and the list is long because of the type of spina bifida and where it's located.

Omg that is terrible!! I couldn't imagine going through something like this! Have you thought about open adoption. Its just an option but maybe you can find a family for her that could take care of her the way she is going to need and open adoption for you and your kids to still be in her life ... Idk just a thought I would consider if I was in your situation. I'm so sorry for you I will pray for the both of you!

Oh there is a long list, from what I know of both conditions a person can live a good functional life. I guess hers is more severe.

So basically u want to ask the Dr to kill your child, I know someone that has spinabifida and is a fully functioning 31 almost 32 year old. Yes the child may experience pain but would u rather her not have the chance to experience life? I'm sorry if this is harsh but I don't think it is ever OK to kill a child. Honestly it sounds like u are more worried about the problems it will cause u and your other children. If u don't want to or can't care for the child give her up for adoption. I have a son with health issues that he and our family deal with daily, but he is a very happy guy and most can't tell anything wrong with him bc of how smiley he is. Again I'm sorry for the  harsh words.

I tjink thats a really good idea... you are the mother and know what is best for your baby and if adoption is what you deem best then I think its a selfless act. I think the comment above is unfair. U cant possibly judge unless u are in that situation yourself... I couldnt even imagine.

I understand that is a lot to deal with especially having other kids and they are kids that probably wouldn't understand at the moment why the baby is sick and needs so much. I know that this is going to be the hardest decision you will probably ever have to make in your life! But I think that the open adoption would be the best. You can still be in your babies life and I'm sure there is a great family out there that can take care of her in the ways that you feel you can't and its OK that is a lot to deal with!! How does the daddy feel about this?
