They think I'm right at 5 weeks
But my hcg levels are not doubling.
Although they are going up.

So my doctor wants me to take a shot, medication to kill the placenta and end the pregnancy bc he thinks it's ectopic.  I've had spotting but no heavy bleeding or clots or cramps.
I honestly feel fine! But he can't see a pregnancy on the ultra sound. And he said by hcg levels 3400 we should be able to see something.
Im so scared. I don't want to loose my baby. But I don't know what to do? I know if an ectopic is not takin cafe of, it could be fatal. But it's the mommy in me that can't just "get rid of it" ...I have so much hope. But at the same time I feel so helpless.
Could I just be too early to see anything still?
I mean, is there a chance??  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Agree with SM.  Don't mess around with this hon.  You need to either follow yoiur doctor's advice, or get a second opinion ASAP.  If indeed you have an ectopic pregnancy, each minute longer you wait puts you at higher risk for very very serious complications.

Good luck to you.

If the doctor feels it is ectopic, that is a huge concern.  If you dont' trust this opinion, then get a second but don't mess around with a possible ectopic pregnancy.  Miscarriage happens in one our of every four pregnancies.  It's very common and doctor's are pretty good at spotting it.  With the hcg numbers and what she writes, I would get a second opinion immediately if I weren't going to follow this docor's advice or I'd follow the doctor's advice.

NO one here is a doctor and these should not be what you base such an important decision on.  Thoughts of this or that happening to our girlfriend or sister or even ourselves does not really apply to your situation and I would hate for you to reduce your chances of conceiving in the future based on false hope.

See another doctor but use true medical opinions as your basis for decision making.  good luck

Although a similar thing happened to my friend a few weeks ago and she had low levels. She is now 9 weeks and had another scan yesterday due to spott8ng but has a happy healthy baby in there.

You cant just go by bloods you need to try have a scan.

Ari089 I was 5w5d on my first test and levels were 2130 second test was 6w and 3820. Doctor said they should of been 4260 and she would of been happier if they were atleast 4000 as thats where levels should be around 6 weeks.

Sweetie, your doctor is giving you medical advice.  This is different than aborting for the reason you don't want a child.  They are telling you that there really isn't a pregnancy.  I know that can be hard to accept but your information provided is consistent with that.  I've very sorry.  It's not getting rid of it at this point but helping to keep you safe by removing the remains.

And if it is indeed ectopic, It can be deadly but also do damage to your fallopian tubes so that you cant have other kids or have to work with only one tube which cuts fertility in half.

This isn't worth it to hold onto a fantasy that everything is going to be okay.

Please follow your doctors advice.  good luck

This sounds so familiar. With my ectopic pregnancy, my levels rose but did not double. Yours are rising very slowly. Hcg levels should double every 48-72 hours. I did the same thing, my doctors suggested i end the pregnancy but i didn't want to believe the pregnancy wasnt viable. I went and had a 2nd and 3rd opinion and got the same answers. By the time i saw the last doctor though, my tube had ruptured and he sent me straight over to the hospital for surgery to remove it. Obviously losing a tube cuts your chances of conceiving again in half. They never saw anything on ultrasound either, i was 7 weeks when it ruptured. With all my healthy pregnancies, i was able to see a sac by 5 weeks. Im very sorry your going through this but it does sound like an ectopic pregnancy to me. I would get another opinion but trust your doctor, they see this a lot im sure and dont wait too long and end up losing your tube. It can be very dangerous. If in fact it is tubal, the sooner this pregnancy is ended, the sooner you can try again.  Good luck and again very sorry for what your going through.

They couldn't see anything on my first ultrasound and i went back about 1-2 weeks later and they saw baby and heart beat. I would definitely get a second opinion.

Im 6 weeks pregnant and just had bloods done. mine didnt double like they should of but they are increasing so my doctor suggested I wait until after im 7 weeks and have a scan. She told me its easy to miss something before 7 weeks so we are waiting. She also told me 7 weeks may be a little early but we will continue scans until she can confirm its definite position.
Might be good to seek a second opinion.

Thank you guys so much.
All of this is so helpful.
I just feel like, at this point it's out of my hands. I have to let god guide me and my baby where we need to go.
My baby can't speak for itself, so I have to be the one to stand up for him/her.
So yes, please, all prayers I can get are very much so appreciated!!

Me too. In my last pregnancy I had a Dr that wanted to take a biopsy in his office and end my pregnancy saying there was nothing in the sac. Guess what 5 days later my second opinion found a heart beat. I did miscarry soon after but if I had followed drs advice i would have killed my child in his office. Ari089 I will pray for you and baby!

How far apart were those readings taken? Does he have any other evidence from the ultrasound that is ectopic? I would wait until it's confirmed but be careful because it can go sour fast. Your current hcg level does not seem alarmingly low for 5 weeks (babymed site) but if it gets worse it really is not a good sign but outside of an ectopic worst case scenario is you follow it through and let it take its course. Keep up the hope but remember if it's not meant to be it won't be and you will have more chances. Your little one will do what's right for him or her.

They usually can't see anything until 6-8 weeks. At 6 weeks my doctor was shocked to see something
