My daughter is exhausted and gets ill almost every period. Please help us....

My daughter is extremely tired ad gets sick almost every period.  When she tore her ACL playing basketball she had her period.  Her coach had asked her later if she had had her period.  Her coach had heard that was a common time for injuries.  My daughter donated blood for the American Red Cross and the nurse told her that her iron level was low.  Any idea besides going to the Dr. for blood tests.  It has always been this way  and shouldn't be a monthly issue.  She eats well and exercisies.  She takes no vitamins.  Any help out there?

Just get a one-a-day type of multi vitamin "with iron."  It says so on the bottle.  If you want to, talk the situation over with the doctor also, but definitely get her on an iron supplement and see what that does for her.

She should be taking iron every day.  If she has anemia, she can definitely get run down, especially during her period, and she will be tired all the time.
