3 days late and negative pregnancy test

My LMP was on 1/23/06.(28 Day Cycle) Ovulated on Feb 5. Had Sex Feb 5th. I did not know that I ovulated until the 6th, no BC. I am late getting my period by 3 days. I have had  several false pregnancy tests. I feel queasy, slight discomfort in my boobs, and menstual type cramps for about 1 1/2 weeks. I have also noticed that I am breaking out on my back like I did when I was pregnant with my son. When I was pregnant before the test showed up postive before I was late. It is not like me to be late. However I am having the cramps that keep sending me to the bathroom thinking that AF has come again. I dont know if I should go take a blood test or if 3 days isnt enough time? Any suggestions or similar stories? Mellisa

You need to take a HPT or go to the doctor for a test. If you don't have insurance go to your local health department or family planning. There is no other way to know for sure. Good luck.

Since you have a Hx of PT's not picking up your pregnancies, I would say that you definitely could be and you should get to the docs for a blood test. That's the only way to know for sure, especially since the urine tests just don't seem to work for you this early on.

Hello, As of today no period and another negative test. I called my doctor to see if I can come in for a blood test. I have alot of menstrual type cramps today that make me think not to go in cause as soon as I get there I  will probably start. A girl at work said she didnt get a positive HPT until 5 days late. I went in to have a test and when I went to the bathroom, I just new I was going to start. I was just being negative and thought it was too good to be true. Well, I went to the bathroom and nothing. I waited for my results, and the nurse called me very quickly. All she said was congradulations and I almost fainted. The cramps, and PMS signs went away after a few days, after the reality that I was pregnant set in. This could be the case for you so don't let those pesky PMS signs keep you from going to the doctor, and if you aren't, well then you know and you can start looking forward to next month.

I am missing my period, and cramping very much. I have taken 4 HCG's and all were negative.   I went to the doctor today, and when I told him my symptoms his respons was "Your're pregnant" .  He gave me an ultrasound and said i have a blotch in the middle of my Uterus, and it was either a baby or my period was getting ready to comedown.  My period came on Jan. 1, and Feb. 1st and nothing s of yet.   I am really nervous he took a blood test and I will know my results tomortow.   I am very confused, but my heart is telling me I'm pregnant.  I'm only about a week late.  Somebody help!

I had skipped 2 periods in my life and this last one I skipped, I was 44 days late, then started the very next day. It is normal to skip a month every now and then..but, if you want to be pregnant, good luck! Keep us updated! :)

I am now 5 days late and negative pregnancy test.  I have felt a little queasy, no breast tenderness (which I usually have before period starts), headaches,and backache.  I didn't have any signs with my first child other than a little nausia.  My doctor said give it another 3-4 days.  Could I still be pregnant?  I am never late like this.  Sometimes a day or two, but never 5 days. I have been running to the bathroom for 4 days now thinking my period was coming and nothing.  Little discharge, which I usually never have right before I start.  Any thoughts out there???

I have a diffrent problem then everyones comments.I cant stop testing light postives on hpt.Its been going on since I lost my son in 2001.The lines are faint but it raley gives me a negitive.I had had a pregnancy since,he is now three I thought that would change things around and it still happens.I feel very pregnant rigt now took many test same thing, light postives not getting any darker.Doctors only tell me its rare but and cant give me the cause.Has anyone else been through this rollercoaster ride???

Ive taken about 6 tests (hpt) and they are all negative. We REALLY REALLY want another one... I am about 4 days late, and I am never late. My cycle is usually 26-28 days long, which means (6 or 4 days late) I took a home pregnancy test a couple of days ago in the afternoon and it was negative but the line was very faint. So I took a new test this morning when I woke up and it was negative again; I bought a different test and the line was visible, however I have not gotten my period yet and I don't feel like I will. I have been very hungry and bloated since last weekend, I have some stomach pains, sometimes back pains but I'm not moody like I am before my period, I just feel more tired than usual. I think I will wait a week and then take another test.

Ok so this is Day 34 since the first day of my last period. And the first morning that I felt a little bit nauseous, but not enough to actually throw up. I have to wear my sports bra now, because my breasts are heavier, firmer, and much more sensitive. For about a week now my stomach is feeling a little bit firmer, but obviously no other change. One thing I can't do anymore is sleep on my belly because my breasts are sensitive, it doesn't feel comfortable, so sleeping on my side is the best right now. I'm still not sure if I am expecting, it's just feels like AF won't be arriving any time soon, and I feel like that every morning. Anyways a question for moms who have kids at home, What do the first few weeks feel like? How much different is it?

I am in a similar position as you are.  I am 4 days late.  Never missed a period or been this late.  My cycle is between 25-28 days.  2 days now I am experiencing nausea and vomitting especially in the morning.  Experiencing slight period cramps since monday, but each time I run to the bathroom nothing. Did 2 test, 1 at home in the night and another in the afternoon at the doctors office.  She told me that the chances of me being pregnant is less with 2 negatives.  The cause of missed period could be stress.  I am to wait and do another test on Monday July 9 and if its negative I am to do an ultrasound. This can help to determine if there is a problem if I am not pregnant.  I have mixed feelings about the timing of this.  My partner is 37 and wants a child badly, we were trying on and off for months without luck.  Just this month we had a discussion about stop trying for a while, for me to explore a sales job in insurance. So for me maybe it could be stress. I am going wait until monday before I try again.

Yeah I'm thinking my missed period could be due to stress as for the last 3 months my partner and I have had people vandalise our cars nearly every week but through all this I have still never been late so I'm not sure if I could be pregnant. I think I'll wait till Monday and do another test and just see what happens. We have also just decided that we would start looking for new jobs in another town right away from everything thats been going on. So I'm probably more like you with everything thats going on and its all stress but fingers crossed for us both that we are because I really want to start a family. Hi. I had alot of injections and iui about 6 yrs ago.( Eggs weren't maturing.) I think the next step would have been dinamite!  Anyway, I now have 2 sons, one 4 and one 6.  I really want another baby so I decided to go back to see my consultant. He scanned me and I had a 20mm follicle????  WOW!   What's going on here I thought. I went for a progesterone test a week later to see if the egg had released, and it HAD!   I asked how this could happen, and was told that my body must have corrected itself. I just can't believe it.  I have a 30-34 day cycle and usually get AF on day 30 or 32.  I am now on day 32 and tested Neg this morning. Thought AF was coming yesterday, but nothing!  20mm follicle was seen on scan on day 18.   Am I testing too soon, or do you know when I should test?  PLEASE SOMEOME REPLY!!!!!!!   XXX

I am single mother of 5 awaiting a divorce.  Was w/my x (not current, soon to be x) once a little over a month ago.  My monthly visitor has not shown up.  Scared to death considering herbs known to cause miscarriage.  Short on $ (1st x $50,000 behind in child support,, soon to be x hasn't paid a penny yet.  Our son 18 months)  I have taken 2 tests that say negative.  Breasts hurt, back cramps, stomach not great.  I am 39 years old w/a good deal of health problems that I keep preety much under control.  Oldest 3 children are teens (son just turned 18 2 days ago.)  I do not want to do this again.  I count on my 15 year old son a lot to help w/everything.  This is not fair to any of the kids.  Off and on struggle w/abortion rights and wrongs.

Hi!!  Im a first timer,  meaning my first time wanting to get pregnant...been trying it for 3 months and nothing...then...this month...Im late I have never been late in my life..and Im 30 years old...My last period was june 13 and no signs of my next period coming in yet. I've done  2 HPT and came out negative. I will wait at least 4 days before retesting again. Im so confused because I feel Excelent!!! very very good!  no symptoms at all..might feel a light cramping but I always feel crampy since I have a condition in which my lower stomach is irritated,so I cant tell each apart...Ive been a bit moody..but I have my moody moments every now and then so...to me its not a symptom., I have a bit of vaginal discharge but still think its normal, the only difference is that it dosent smell like the vaginal discharge that comes right before the period .My husband says he thinks my boobs are a bit bigger, but I dont think they are. So...if no symptoms...no pregnancy? The only symptom I have is a missed period! Today is my day 30 and my cycle is 27-28 never has been more that that so...I do know Im late..
I hope someone who had experience could offer me some explanation to this situation..well to all of our situations...because we need it . Thanks :)

I am 12 days late. And overall feel pregnant, just like with my son - breast tenderness, bloating, more frequent urination. I took 2 first response test, which came out negative. I went to get a blood test, which turned out also negative. Which pretty much means I am not pregnant. I am scared of what can be causing this. I have doctor's appointment next week? I went to the doctor today and took a blood test and it came out negative..Im so depressed because my husband and I were so exited! Now Im just depressed. Still no sing of my period but I just know Im gonna get it soon because Im only 3 days late. The doctor said that if I dont get my period soon I should have an ultrasound test to see if I have problems in my ovaries. I never thought of that. Im scared and sad at the same time. I'll keep in touch and tell you the results of my next doctors appointment ...sigh :(

OOps. Dont' feel bad maybe it's to early for it to show up on the blood test. It happened to me with my last pregnancy. I was 6 weeks pregnant when it started showing up. My doctor kept on telling me that I had a cyst that I was going thru early menopause. I heard it all. Until I decided to wait until I was 2 weeks late to test my self and BFP. Now I'm going thru the same situation My last period was on 6/9 was due on 7/7 and nothing yet. I been feeling really tired, lots and lots of cramps for about 2 weeks and boobs started to hurt today. I'be taken many test and all have came out BPN. I have decided to wait a while. So don't loose your hopes.

Hi...well  I got my period  (double sigh)  the weird thing is my boobs are huge!! specially the left one...they are heavy and my bra is tight..My period came the same day I got the negative blood test only at night. and It lasted 2 and 1/2 days.. I dont understand why my boobs are big if Im out of my period..does anyone know of a similar case?  Do I have hormonal unbalance? Im sooo confused right now :(

Hi..this is my first time writing into a forum, im not sure who else to discuss this with anymore, since im driving all my friends nuts.  My husband and I have been ttc for 3 months.  My cycles are anywhere from 30-33days(latest its been is 36).  Never missed a cycle.  Today is day37 and 3 preg test have been BFN.  I havent had any symptoms other than lower back pain.  Im hoping im pregnant--planning on taking another test on day 40 and then deciding what to do.  I would like to hear from women who have tested positive later than 5 weeks(how many days were your cycles? did you have other pregnancy symptoms?).  If anyone has any advice that would be great! thanks.  Good luck to all ttc.

hey everyone i was skimming over some of the situations and decided i should sign up.
I lost a child at the first of this yr 19 weeks and 6 days .. early labor / incompetent cervix. i got a rubella shot after loseing the baby  , the shot stays active for 3 months . after april17 i could try again( i thought i was preg not to long after the shot come to find out i wasnt  which was a good thing because of the shot) . I have been trying for about 2 months now .. i am now three days late , the past 2 weeks i have been getting sick and i feel very week and tired. Nothing can feel me up . after i eat i am hungry again.. i feel the same way i felt when i was pregnant the first time .. i took a test today and it was negative. should i wait and test again?

yes, you should wait for about 4 days and test again.  Ive never been pregnant before (im ttc)so im not sure on all the symptoms you are having--If you felt the same way as you did last time you were pregnant-then hopefully you are.  Sorry about your past loss.  Hope you get your doublelines, I know, waiting it out is the worst part.  I want to see doublelines too!

Im having mad situation myself. beginning of May i stopped my pill half way thru pack as boyf accidently threw away. I had period 10th May and had unprotected sex a week or so later. Missed out whole June period and preg tests neg and got a bleed on 2nd July. weird thing is didnt get any symptoms pains, crmps anything which is odd for me i usually get them all and flood off my feet. Bleed was quite light and lasted 3 days, when usually its at least 5-7 days. Been feeling really tired all the time (which was how i felt when preg with my little girl) and recently got little bumps on the nipples. Awaiting my results from doc but they are only doing a urine test. Not ttc just yet but just cant help but think that i may be i feel somewhat different. What do you guys think??

Well sence you stoped takeing your pill it couldve threw your period off track .. but then again you could be pregnant.
I would see what these results say first if negative then maybe wait a few more days or even a week and take it again .

ok. so my husband and i have been off the pill for 3 months because i wanted to get my body "ready" for a baby. my husband and i made love on the 29th of june which was the highest chance of getting pregnant day of my ovulation period. it wasn't intentional, it just happened that way! ha ha. anyway. for the past 3 months i have started my period on the 14th. it's the 18th of july and i still haven't started. i've taken several at home tests and they've all come back neg! on the 15th i put a tampon in just in case i started and i was a day late or so. when i pulled it out later in the day nothing was on it. did the same thing again and the next time i pulled it out there was a *hint* of blood but i mean, it was hardly on there at all! so my heart sank to think i started my period but the strange thing is...since that one time there hasn't been any other sign of blood. i've been feeling like i'm going to start but nothing is happening. i did wake up with back pain this morning which i thought was kind of weird. i don't know...what do you guys think?

Hi ! Well...I went to the doctor and she said nothing is wrong with my boobs..(thank god) apparently my body IS preparing to have a baby in which case had a hormonal inbalce wich made my period come late and enlarged my boobs. She said that sometimes when you are a first timer on unprotected sex, the body is taking notice and preparing for the baby. So I guess I feel better now.
I'll keep trying for the baby so..if anything I'll post ASAP to keep you noticed :)

my god that same thing happened to me with my little girl. I remember getting my sister round and getting her to hold the test up to the light saying 'can you see it, can you see it'. I done another test about a couple days later (morning one) which showed up positive. Oooh so excited for you congratulations!!

So then i had a blood test done and it should be in later on today or first thing in the morning i am hopeing that it comes back positive . I took tests that i previously mentioned that were faint ( i mean so faint that you really had to look hard to see it). Then took another next day and negative. I then done another the following morning and that came out positive. It must just be time of day and what test you use i suppose. The hcg hormone could be neither here nor there for the first few weeks. Im sure your blood test will be a positive.

I am right now about 2 weeks late for my period. It was due around the 5th of July. My periods have always been very consistant down to the same day every month...off a day or so every once in a while. When I got pregnant with my son I took a test a week late in the afternoon and it showed positive. Every test I have taken in the past 2 weeks have come up negitive but with a very faint can barely see it line. I have had symptoms especially sensitivity to smells, i work at a fast food place so it is a very bad thing, it is so bad down to I can smell spices in some foods, my nipples are sore, tighting in abdomen, discharge, and sick to my stomach like crazy.
I don't know if I should just wait a little longer. I took my last test a few days ago. I think I might take another one in the morning.
I am not under any kind of stress besides normal everyday life stress. So I know it can't be stress

I have been reading all of your writings and I am experiencing the same things. My husband and I have been "trying", but not really, if that makes sense since March. I was due for AF on the 17th of July, but I still do not have my AF. I have taken so many HPT's - all negative. I have been feeling crampy and moody, more tired then normal and can't seem to get full. I eat, and within a 1/2 hour am hungry again, not just wanting to munch.... but literally hungry. I have this feeling like AF is coming and have been walking around with a pad in my pocket for days. Several times I run to the bathroom because it feels like something has come out. but nothing is there. I am getting slight cramping in my left ovary. If I don't get anything by Monday the 23rd, I am calling my OBGYN.  Is anyone else having these symptoms and if so, has anyone turned out to be pregnant?

Don't worry your only 12 days late i heard that it can take 28 days before a blood test will show up positive.

Congradulations! It's 44 days since my last LMP, which makes me 17 days late. All my test results negative i have symptoms of being pregnant, i have enlarged and tender boobs, darker nipples, tender stomach, and veins more prominent on boobs. I read in a pregnancy book that many women do not know they are pregnant at the end of the first six weeks of pregnancy. Alot of pregnancy tests will not pick the pregnancy hormone up because of varying levels of the hormone in different women. The book states you are best testing when you are 28 days late for a more reliable result. Any luck with your result yet? Mine is still negative!

I am just wondering if anyone has been through what I have and had some input! I was pregnant, and miscarried in May. I am now about 7-8days late. no cramps and normally my boobs are tender up to a week before my period and they arent! i dont feel sick or anything but I have started to get some discharge over the last couple of days.  I have been getting lower back pain for the last week. i do feel abit more tired and i did a preg test on monday which was neg and then I did one this morning which was also neg.

I am now 7  days late with my period.  I have severe headaches and lower back ache.  I am on the pill, but missed one day in the last month.  Is this normal.  Can you skip a period while on the pill?  I have some cramping asif my period wants to start, but nothing. I just got off the pill June 18th. I missed periods while on the pill as well. When you are on the pill, you have what is called a pill period. All that means, you don't really ovulate while on the pill. I have missed one pill here and there all the time. I am thinking that I am pregnant now, because I haven't started yet. I am like clockwork on or off the pill. What is weird with me, I am 1 week late and my stomach is getting big, but I am not gaining weight. I am going to take another test this weekend. Hello.  I have always had irregular periods without birth control.  I went off of birth control in April to start trying to conceive, and my periods started coming in regular.  We counted the days I'd be ovulating based on my last period and tried during that week.  My last period should have come on 7/21 but today's the 27th and still no signs of it.  I've taken 2 HPTs and they were both negative.  I have an appt. w/ my doc in two weeks, but was wondering if I should wait a few days and take another HPT.  I've had no symptoms, other than headaches and feeling somewhat tired, but nothing else.  Could I be pregnant? It's comforting to read that i'm not the only one going through this agonizing wait. My husband and I started TTC this month. I'm currently 3 days late (have never been late in my life). I did go off the pill only 1 month ago.  My BBT has been high for a while but the change was so gradual that I don't know when I actually ovulated. I've taken 3 hpt's. all neg. I have been more bloated the last 4 days then I have ever been in my life. I was really gassy for 3 days as well. As anyone else experienced this? I have no other symptoms. I had my LMP on june 26th as well and I am 4 days late and this morning woke up with a tiny bit of brown spotting. It is only there sometimes when I wipe. I have taken 2 HPT's and both negative. I was 13 days late when a pregnancy test showed up positive it was a faint pink line, then it showed up bright pink 2 to three days later when i was 15 days late. 4 days late is early to test and you will not get many symptoms or feel pregnant at this stage. In fact i had hardly any i didnt suffer with morning sickness at all. The only symptoms i got were tingerly boobs, they had changed to a pinky purply colour, and my periods stopped and i had premenstrual pains like what you are getting. pains as if your period is going to come then doesn't. Just keep testing it's awful not knowing and you get impatient and it feels like forever til you find out, my advice test every 3 days your hormone level doubles, try not to waste to much money on pregnancy tests! Let me know outcome.

hello everyone, my thoughts are with you all trying to concieve (conceive).  i have been trying for 3 and a half years now, i already have a 4 year old, but desperatly want more children.  we gave up trying in late may as i had to start taking medication for a back problem, well, we didn't EXACTLY give up trying, we just wern't activly trying.  i took my pills for 2 days and then stopped (don't really know why!!) then thought that i'd better not start them again until i was sure i wasn't pregant.  WELL (i'll get to the point now) i'm now about 9 days late, 3 negative pregnancy tests, but lots of pregnancy signs (sore boobs, feeling sick, weeing a lot, tiredness etc..) i'm really nervous about seeing the doctor for a blood test, because if it comes back neg i'll have to stop trying for a couple of years to sort my back out.  I'm glad i found this site because although i'm part of a large family, i don't feel i can talk to any of them.  GOOD LUCK ALL xxxxxxx

I am now on cycle day 33. I've been pregnant before in 2005, had a miscarriage, and have been trying to get pregnant on and off since then.  My boobs are sore and I've been feeling nauseas.  I took a HPT two days ago and it was negative. It was the digital kind.  I've never used those before.  I was more than two months pregnant last time I found out with no symptoms other than sore boobs.  I want to take another HPT from the same brand because two came in the box but scared of a negative result.  Give advice please!!!

HPT's sometimes take a while to detect your hcg hormone. Go to the dr's and get a blood test done. It is possible that you ovulated late and there for there is not enough hormone in your urine that a hpt can detect. I would wait another week to test with a hpt. Good luck!

I'm so mad my doc didn't take me seriously when I went in for a blood PG test!!
I've never been pregnant before but I know I don't feel right and I know it's a big possibility that I am.
I've been nauseated almost every day for a month straight, I had the cramps last week like my period (when I expected it) would come the next day and there was nothing.  I've also been REALLY hungry ALL THE TIME!!  It seems like the nausea and hunger switch off...

the blood test came out negative, but I hadn't missed my period yet.
now I'm a week late...and almost scared to go back to the doc because I don't want him to make me feel crazy!

I had a miscarriage 32 days ago. I was 6 wks. It was our first. We were heartbroken, but know it's God's way and have tried to accept it. The bleeding stopped about 4 days after the mc so we began having sex again right away. Now, for the last 8 days I've had pretty bad lower cramps, back ache, almost constant nausea and I have to pee every 45 minutes. My breast aren't sore this time, but everything else feels the same.  I've taken 4 tests and all are negative. My doc said it's too soon to try the blood test and to give it a week or two. Has anyone ever had this happen? I have no idea when I should start since you really can't tell after a mc. I want to be pregnant more than anything, but I don't want to get my hopes up. Any similar experiences would be great.

I had have had 2 miscarriages0 One if December of 2006 and another in February of 2007.  I had a D&C after the 2nd one and we are trying to conceive Again.   I am now 5 days late but have had 3 neg. HPT.  I took a blood test at 3 days past ovulation, and another at 9 days past, both negative.  At about 10 days past ovulation, I had a little spotting- just enough to get on TP when I urinated, which I though may be implantaiton bleeding, then 2 days ago (when I should be on my period) I had a little more of the same.  I have read you can have a little spotting when you would normally be on your period if you are Prego.  I am hesitant to spend ANOTHER $50 on a blood test if it will just be negative.  I should note that with my first pregnancy (my daughter is almost 2 now)  the HPT didn't show positive until 13 days late.  I also am very regular on my periods!  If anyone has any suggestions or similar situations I would love any input!

Is anyone charting their BBT and if so, have you found it to work? I started charting on Day 1 of my cycle which just so happened to be July 1st. It was like clockwork. I had about 17 days and then my temp jumped up right at ovultation time. Cervical fluid was perfect according to the books too. We tried every day during that five day fertile time. Now I am on Day 35 of my cycle and no period with high BBT (18 days of high temps since ovulation. My acupuncturist said my pulse and body heat were both signs of pregnancy. I am bloated and exhausted and hungry. My husband and I took a First reposnse HPT lastnight and it was negative. Like all of you, I was very disappointed. Gen82, my heart goes out to you and all women who have had a miscarraige (miscarriage). We had one in December 06 at 8 weeks and it broke my heart. I had irregular periods for months after to find that I had a polyp in my uterus. After my second D&C in June, we began trying. Mycharts couldn't be lying to me, could they? How reliable are these charts anyway? I will take another HPT in 3 days. I hope and pray...

I hope you are right because I began spotting lastnight just after I wrote my message above. Maybe this means I am not pregnant. I will take a HPT on Wednesday and see if so or not. I really felt pregnant but maybe I just have a really long cycle (35 days?) or due to stressing over possibly being pregnant again for the first time since the miscarraige (miscarriage), I stressed myself into a late period? who knows. I think patience is the hardest thing to teach yourself, but I would suggest everyone wait till 14 days late and take another HPT. That is my plan.

I am really confused! My last period started June 10th. My cycle is typically about 30-33 days. I completely missed July and now I am about to miss August. I am 24 years old and in 11 years I have never missed a period. I have always been very regular. It just doesnt add up to me. I took a 2 HPT's a couple of weeks ago but they were both negative. They were the cheapy ones, does that matter? I dont know what to think. I dont think I really have any prenancy symptoms either. This has to be the most frustrating thing ever. I stopped taking my pill in November 2006, and since then, my cycle has been fairly regular - around 30 to 32 days. Last month, AF came 9 days late., bringing me to 41 days. This month, I am currently on day 46!!! I have thought my period was coming for weeks now, sore breasts, cramps, moody. But I also notice now that I am tired, I've had some dizzy spells, and very light nausea. I know those symptoms could just be in my head, but we want a baby so badly, I can't let go of that hope that I am pregnant - even after 4 negative HPTs. The last one I took was 3 days ago, and I am considering either buying yet another HPT (seriously, I am thinking that buying stock in EPT is a great idea at this point), or trying to get in to the doctor for a blood test. Are cramps really a symptom of pregnancy? Why would my otherwise-normal cycle be screwy the last two months? No change in diet, medication or anything that may cause a shift in it..... I am just IRRITATED!!!!

OK, so I called my doctor to see if going in for a blood test would be worth the trouble, and she didn't seem to think so. I am 16 days late - she told me:
A) it is not unusual to SKIP a period (as in, it's not late, you just don't get one that month) and not to worry if that happens once or twice. If it happens more frequently than that, make an appointment.
B) They recommend you do NOT take an HPT until 2 WEEKS after your missed period. Come on,  I start taking them 5 days before I miss it! They expect you to wait 2 weeks? Anyways, she said that's because the pregnancy hormone levels differ in every woman, so while some women will get a positive reading before they miss their period, many don't get one until several weeks after they miss their period.
So, I am no more certain that I am pregnant or not pregnant, but I am a little more informed, I guess. Just have to sit back and play the waiting game. She suggested I wait a week before bothering with another HPT.
Again though - can anyone confirm that cramps are a symptom of pregnancy?

About a week before my perorid was due on a regular cycle which i dont have anyways...I started to spot blood was a light pink at first then turned into a light brown later that after noon till the next day it stopped. since then I've felt like Im going to start but I havent. I've been sleepy, a bit sick at times lower back pains, headaches which I dont normally have. some times my breast will be tender but not often. so I went to the doctor a week before my period was suppose to be due and got a blood test was neg. but I did have H pi lori that is spelled wrong prolly. which is a bacterial infection that causes Ulcers. I do not see how that would give me all these symtems seeing that I've probably had that for some time now. My Heart burn and acid reflux has got way worse too. Anyways, I'm not sure how far alone I would be even if I was pregnant but all the test I've took are all Neg. accept one it was weird so I'm guessing it was neg. too! wishfull thinking I guess. I'm like 3 weeks late on my period still nothing and still symtoms (symptoms). I don't know what to do. I'm always late so I don't know. I'm confussed and aggravated. This is the weirdest thing I've had to go through and all this waiting is driving me insaine. I'm thinking I'm like 5 weeks pregnant if I am but all the dates are so messed up. any suggestions on this? About the other people that has taken tests that has normal periods. I would suggest waitting two to three weeks after your peroid to take a HPT that is normal time to take one when you are 5 weeks pregnant but, that is from what I've been reading. I didnt find out I was pregnant with my 7 year old till I was 9 1/2 weeks or so. I took a test Feb 14th of that year and it was Positive...I got pregnant end of Dec. near Xmas. I started getting sick in January but I was only 19 and didnt know nothing so I took a test in Feb and was pregnant. SO I don't know what is going on with me. I have had tests done in my lower stomach and I have no infections so I'm not sure why I'm hurting for so long It feels like Im going to start but its not coming...this is going on a month now what is going on!

I had the coil removed 24th July, havnt had a period since,ovulated 19th August took ovualtion test,knew i had coz had a funny turn night before got really warm and extreamly tired, had sex three days before and the day I ovulated and for 3 days after, im presuming im due on next two weeks, i have put on half a stone, sore breasts and nauseas could I be pregnant,i have 2 boys already and would love another to complete our family, is it too early for pregnancy signs to be showing? Iam not sure if anyone can answer this but, last month i tested positive for a PT. then 5 days later i got a light period, very light. so i figured i wasnt pregnant. but now this month my stomach has been very bloated and iam having lots of discomfort for the past week. It does happen for a women to have a period during there pregnancies. My little sister had one for two months while she was. I would suggest taking a HPT to see what it says. the light period could been old blood releasing. Some women may experience slight cramping or bleeding when the (blastocyst) baby attaches itself to the uterine lining, but most of the changes taking place in your body are barely noticeable in these first few weeks which is 1-4 weeks if pregnant. if you already missed a period and tested positive then you could been atleast 5 weeks for it to show up give or take a few could be more depends on the HCG hormone in your body. which is the weird thing it takes some women a lot longer to show up than most. some show up a few days before there missed period and others can take up to 2 weeks or more to show up. Anyways, I would deffenetly take a HPT you don't get to many possitives and it not be right and I mean a good line even if its light. not some weird looking one with the invisible lines they do have in those cheap tests. If you Ovulated on the 19ths of August it is way to early for any pregnant signs. that was only 6 days ago. If you did get pregnant the egg has not attached to your uterine wall which sends hormones to you body. Then I think you could maybe have symtoms (symptoms) cause when the hormones start in your body is when it starts to change. It takes like 7 days for it to float down there and attach. that is when some women usually spot too. Good luck with that hon :).

This is my first time on this site and I came across this site because I was looking for some kind of answers.......Last month I decided to stop taking my pills right after the pack was done.  Since then, I had sex on the days that (according to the ovulation calendar) were the most fertile and pretty much every day since I stopped taking the pills.  My period is now 5 days late, I took a HPT two days ago and it was negative.  Also, last week I was getting pains as if i would be getting my period and i still haven't gotten it.  I normally don't get pains until the day before.....I was also craving food that I never really eat like steak and thai food, and i'm practically a vegetarian.  Do you guys think that i migh be pregnant?

Hi mcorona!  Today is my first time on this site as well. Like we all probably did, I googled "late period, negative test".  I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments.  Very interesting information out there, no?  I happen to be learing a lot.

I am in the same boat as you, my first month TTC.  This would be for our first child, we've been married 4 years.  After reading your listing it does sound like there is a very good change you may be PG if you are 5 days late!  However, I suppose your AF may also be late if your body is adjusting to being off the BCP.  On the other hand, there are plenty of people who test BFN on the HPT until 40 days (day one being the first day of your last period) some people even test BFN as far out as 6 weeks who are actually PG!  Your cravings are certainly an interesting factor as well!!  

I've been off BCP since May. I myself am only 2 days past my period but normally keep to a 28 day cycle.  Like you, had sex earlier this month on the days my ovulation calendar recommended. Jumping the gun,  I have been taking HPTs for the past week.  ALL  (and there have been MANY) have come up BFN.  Reason being, as early as a week and a half ago I began getting some serious cramping but different from those I expect with my AF.  I was so certain I was PG so I began what has become my morning HPT ritual (silly I know but I can't seem to help it ... which is seriously beginning to cost me some $ here ... :)  all to be BFN.  Now, of course, most of these have been too early to know for certain ...  However, now I am excited because I am two days late!  On a sad note, I do feel as if AF is coming.  Now I am getting the normal crampy cramps.

But the good news is that as of today, still no AF, I am now 7 days late and I'm still having some unusual cramps on and off. Hopefully that means that my uterus is stretching or something...lol. My plan as of now is to wait until saturday which will be day 40 of my cycle and I'm going to test again. Keep your fingers crossed ! and good luck to all! keep me posted....

Also, many women say that when they are PG, they get cramps that are very similar to AF cramps due to implantation and stretching of different stuff in there...lol...so don't be discouraged!

Hi!  Congrats on being 7 days overdue for AF!  If your cramps feel unusual, I bet you are PG ... your uterus may be stretching as I hear,  implantation can be especially uncomfortable with some rather sharp pains ...  

Got AF tonight ... and hour before I was due to leave my office.  I was disappointed but I was not as crushed as I was beginning to think I would be. This was only our first month trying ... so I certainly can not complain.  The good news is now we have another fun month ahead of us ...and I want to enjoy this and not get as obsessive as I was beginning to feel these last few days.  I want this to be a fun experience for my husband and I, you know?  So, we'll just keep on trying!  Makes for some exciting days of wondering & waiting a month from now I guess.

It has been 35 days since my last mentstral cycle(July 26th). My boobs aren't tender now but they were a couple of weeks ago way before my period was due. I took a HPT two days ago and it was negative. The only symtoms (symptoms) I have are tiredness and frequent urination. My breast are not sore at all. I don't know what else to do. I hope all works out for you. A lot of women don't get positive reading on their hpt's until 18 dpo, so I would just wait and either AF might show up or you might get a bfp.

Don't worry girls.  I bet you are both just late in receiving your menstual cycle.  JustNotReady, the morning after pill could have thrown you off your normal cycle.  Can you take a HPT?  ... ejbeez, the fact that you are getting BFNs on your HPTs is a positve sign (so to speak) that you are NOT PG.  Hang in there both of you, AF will come!

Apparently doctors consider AF to be officially "missed" after 5 days... I'm now 4 days late. Took a HPT this morning - negative... maybe it's just too soon to tell? There's also apparently some theory about 40 days being the best time to test? Anyone know anything about this?

I am 3 days late and have had some complications back in May with the coil, so I started taking a note of my due dates, I was due to start on the 3rd and no sign yet, I have taken 2 tests in 2 days, but both negative, I am very very tired, nausious, irritable and have bad cramps and niggling all the time.  Any suggestions??

I had a miscarriage on the 12th of July and my hubby and I had sex one night and totally didn't even think about being safe for the time after you should wait. Well now it is September and I still haven't got my cycle. Has anyone ever heard about this happening to you or anyone else??? I have taken 2 pregnancy tests and they both came out negative. I don't know what to do or what to think anymore!!! I have had two miscarriages already and I tried to let my body rest but it was just a slip up. I need some advice really fast. I was going to take another pregnancy test on Friday and then we will see if it comes up negative I will just have to get blood work done. Please give me some good advice to settle my thoughts.

Wow! I've never been 4 days late before ever. When I am stressed out im usally 2-3 days late, but not 4. I have been pregant before about 3 years ago, but lost the baby at 3 months. Now, years later...Im wondering if im pregant. I tested yesterday and said negative. But, yesterday afternoon my cramps was very slight, and goes from nothing to light, back to nothing. I would have thought that I was getting my period. But, no. I go to the bathroom often thinking that im gonna get it, but nothing. I have very thirsty since and going to the bathroom more often. Hi!  My husband and I are TTC as well.  Is your AF late and if so, how late?  I heard that results for the HPT are reasonably accurate 7 days after your missed .  I have heard that results for the HPT are MOST accurate on day 40 (day 1 being the first day of your missed .) .  Keep us posted!  Best wishes to you and your husband!  I'll keep my fingers crossed for the two of you.

hi everyone. this is my first time on this site and im 3 days late. this is only my first month off the pill but i was very exact before going on the pill. i have some breast tenderness ive never had before and lower back pain like i usually have on the first day of my period, and yet no sign of my friend. ive taken 2 tests both negative. i know its not likely to get pregnant right away, but im wondering if this has happened to anyone else. we are going crazy, we just want to know one way or another!

so i started my period on august 7, which ended up being day 27 of my cycle. it was actually almost midnight so almost day 28. my hubby and i BD starting the week before my fertile period, just in case. we tried 8-12, 8-14, 8-18, 8-19, 8-20, 8-21,
8-22. it is now day 29 of my cycle and i keep feeling as though i am starting my period, but there is nothing there (after i submit this, i will probably start my period lol). anyway, i took a first response test on day 28 in the am and it was negative. i took a cheapy test in the afternoon today and it was negative. i dunno. am i just reading too much into this? i have had a sick stomach all last nite ( i was up and down 3 times just feeling yucky) and all day today. my mom says that if God wants me to be pregnant, it doesn't matter what the tests say, that it will eventually show itself up. i just am not sure what to think. i am usually 28 days give or take a few hours maybe 1 day. tommorrow will be day 30. any advice is appreciated!

ps. i did the robitussion this cycle and had green tea daily to see if any of that would help.

I am 31 weeks pregnant with my third. All I can tell you is what I have gone thru in my experiences. I waited almost 2 weeks to take a test with the last one. I tried and tried to take tests to get one to show up on the other 2. They say results as early as the day or your missed period or whatever. Well, it has never worked for me. I know you really want to know... but it may take another week or so to show up. Plus, if you are 2 weeks late.. you pretty much know you are expecting anyway. Each time I got pregnant, before I took the test, I just got "the feeling" that I was. I don't know if everyone gets that. But there were times when I was late and knew that I would start. But every time that I was pregnant.. I just knew... GOOD LUCK!

I have to admit I'm at a bit of a loss here. My LMP was August 15th, ironically the day before my wedding how much fun is that, any way my husband and I did have sex during menstration then again on the 29th which was a peak day for ovualtion. Needless to say my cycles are pretty regular 27-28 days, I was supposed to have my period on the 11th and still nothing. My boobs are no more sore than they are before I start a period but I have been queasy the last three days. Not all day queasy but in waves- have not actually thrown up though. Tested last night negative, I'm going to wait a few days and test again. Is it possible i'm just one of those few women whom have to be a couple of weeks late before a test shows up positive?
