I was just wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 2 1/2 year old and I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks in December and I was showing around then, now I am 4 weeks and my belly is a ball and I look 4 months pregnant, but only a little weight gain on my butt and legs. Is that normal because technically it is my 3rd pregnancy even though I did not carry them all to term? I am already in maternity clothes and it is only 4-5 weeks through....
You do tend to show earlier after you have been pregnant. i would think that it is a little early, but I'm only at seven weeks, and have had to put away my jeans, and pull out the stuff with elastic waists already too. I have been shopping for maternity clothes, but can't bring myself to wear them yet, because they are all so big. i would feel silly in them. in the meantime, just pull out the yoga pants and looser fitting stuff. Good Luck, and congrats!
Most often you are not showing due to the baby, it is commonly bowel distention. Pretty much as soon as your body starts producing hcg, your digestive tract slows way down in an effort to increase the absortption of all the nutrients. This in turn causes your bowels to take longer to empty, this giving the bloated look and feel.
I am on pg #8 and while I am bloated, I am no where near showing yet.
Are you small to begin with? I have a slim figure and I always "showed" around 4weeks pregnant. I've been pregnant 4 times. The only one I didn't show early with was my first. So, I think it is normal to show somewhat :) You can always ask your dr. Congrats!
I have had this same concern and thanks to all of you do feel somewhat better. I am on my first pregnancy and I guess what you would consider average weight. I am 29, 5'4" and was 130 pounds when I found out. I am now 10 weeks and have gained almost 10 pounds and it seems it is all in my belly! Today I actually bought my first pair of size small maternity jeans. I have been stressed about my weight and now feel better. My doctor is not concerned but, I have never weighed more than 130(and that was actually my heaviest)
Thanks for posting this..you have really helped me too!
I felt like the day I found out I was pregnant my belly inflated like a balloon although my weight gain was small in the first weeks. It stabilized at about 14 weeks. Hard to keep your pregnancy a secret ;-)
I too am on pregnancy 3, the 2nd was a m/c. I am now just about 15 weeks and have been in maternity since 6 weeks due to an expanding stomache!!! I look six months or more. I have gained 12lbs so far. I swear there are twins but we only heard one heartbeat so far. My belly is very huge!!! so girls, you are not alone.
I was wondering if you're absolutely sure that you're only 4 weeks pg. Maybe you are actually 8 week pg but were fooled into thinking you had period 4 weeks ago with some weird bleeding? Is that possible?
I'm also wondering could I Be pregnant. My friends are a little more optimistic then I am. I've been spotting brown, red and pink but no regular menstrual. I'm on day 27 of my cycle. My cycle normally last for 26-27 days. Am I too early to test? When should I test? When doyou start feeling symptoms?
it should be ok to test. as for syptoms (symptoms) everyone gets them at different time. some get none. i get them right after implantation! take a test if you wanna know...it would show positive on day 27 of your cycle
I had my HCG levels and there were around 783, consistent with 4-5 weeks. I only had one period in between the miscarriage and now so I think that those numbers are right so far. Thank you all for your comments, I thought maybe I was just turning into a fat pug, my last pregnancy I gained 80 pounds and I am not overweight, I lost everything in 3 months and I just dont want to be that big ever again.....I think you guys are right about the bloating, I had a BM and my belly went down, but then I ate and it came right back. Thank you all and good luck to all of you!
BLOATING ALL IT IS.i am slim and i never showed until 5 months with first 5 now pregant with 6th and i had a belly since 6weeks.i had to wear maternity clothes because i was only wearing size 3 and 4 pants be4 pregant this time
Ack! Someones talking to me??? I didn't think anyone remembered me!
Sorry it took me so long to respond.
It's been a rough 6 weeks since my surgery. No, they didn't find nothing wrong down there. The dr. was a stinker and said I had to tell myself nothing is wrong and the pain will go away..and to take a percocet! RIGHT! My symptoms have just gotten worse....achy pulling sensation on my right side daily. Pain/swelling/pressure/tiredness 7+ days around the time I ovulate. But, I'm just trying to ignore it & living with it. I saw a new obgyn today who I really like. My husband went with so that was great cuz he's tired of seeing me like this. This dr. is putting me on the pill and thinks my problems "might be" related to hormone imbalance. I'm really hoping this works :) But diagnosing pelvic pain is difficult. I'm also seeing a certified reproductinve endocrinologist (blah blah blah) in June.
I think it is all different for everyone. I believe I am 5 weeks right now, and my belly has been growing since 3-4, while I have been losing weight, but the same thing happened with my 2nd daughter. My first two are only 16 months apart, so I had not fully recovered from the first when I got pregnant with the second and the same thing is happening again. My stomach has begun growing and stretching, with stretching pains, and it is getting more tight - not flabby like it was 1 month ago because I needed to lose more weight. I showed relatively early with my first as well, but things are different this time with the rest of the symptoms, so we will see.
I wear size 4 and am 5 weeks along. I could tell even before my missed period because my soccer shorts didn't tie as tightly. I feel I am super bloated but I was on fertility treatments and can have as many as three in there! I also feel slight aches I heard that was the uterus expanding.
I am just about 9wks into my 3rd pregnancy and I am already doing the rubber band trick with my pants. I haven't gained any pounds according to the scale but everyone around me swears I must be farther along. This may be TMI but I haven't "gone to the bathroom" in days and that has got to be it. There is a post from 2009 by AndiJ78 and she is dead on. I am actually starving but everytime I try to eat I get the thanksgiving day stuffed feeling after only a few bites. Oh well, it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck and congrats!
Hi, I was just wondering... I did have unprotected sex around the time I was ovulating. The thing is, I just got off of birth control for a month during that time. Now I have all the symptoms, except for my breasts. I event got that round little belly (I'm around 4 weeks, if I am pregnant), and I feel tension in my abdominal, and my lower back is in pain, it feels like my lower body is stretching. I'm slim (due to me modeling)... I did have an abortion 3 years ago. My blood test came negative 2 weeks ago, but I think it might be due to it being done too early (i was probably only 2 weeks or less into pregnancy)... it drives me crazy, because the symptoms don't go away, and now this round bellly... it's weird, how do I know if I am pregnant?
I get random headaches that last maybe 10 minutes than go away, and I always feel dehidrated. I do go to bathroom more than often, and I feel nauseaus... it's a little less now, but a week ago, I couldn't eat anything, I was throwing it up, or my tummy was really upset.
What do you think it is?
Hi. I am four weeks pregnant and my tummy is huge. I believe it's bloated so I've started walking and I'm drinking lots of water. It's helping. I was wondering if anyone can pls tell me why we have to keep it a secret for three months that we r pregnant. Miscarriage can happen at any time.
