Breast tissue in underarm

I have a lump on my underarm.  It is not painful but it is ugly and it makes me very self conscious.  When I got pregnant it really got big and filled with milk my doctor said it was breaast tissue that traveled into my armpit and that as long as it didn't hurt it really wasn't anything to worry about.  It just looks like extra baggy skin and as a result I can't wear sleeveless tops.  I've never known anyone else who has this to ask what they think or feel.  My husband thinks if it bothers me so much I shyould have it removed.  I am scared and want to know what the health risks are.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Shat should I do about it?

I am 28 years old. Sinds 6 years now I have these lumps in my underarm. They looked at it and it turns out to be breast tissue in my underarm.
I cannot wear sleaveless shirts cause it looks ugly. They are very sensitive. Sometimes they can be painful. I do not have any children yet. One is bigger than the other, and the bigger one is slightly hanging. I really want to have them removed. I see that you guys have positive results. Can I see more pictures?
And how did it go?
What is the name of the surgery.
I do not live in the US.

I have ectopic breast tissue which has grown with each pregnancy also. I also remember thinking it was so abnormal and my parents and doctors blew it off until a gyno told me, I was probably in my 20's before I really knew what it was.
I was most scared during my first breast feeding experience when my  left arm pit became engorged. The visiting nurse looked horrified! I did always have it I quess since puberty but never really bothered me until after kids when it has gotten larger.  I now am self conscious about it but I m not sure if it bothers me enough for surgery.  It is definitely noticable. I am more concerned with at my age now 39, I am due for a mammogram and my lefft arm pit has been bothering me more lately when I try to self- examine it .  It feels as lumpy and sore as always, more so than the right side.  I am just worried about cancer or like some others posted maybe a begnign tumor just growing larger and larger in there.

I would be very apprehensive of surgery, despite the mainly positive reponses on this site.

hiya..

i haven't been back on medhelp since october.. think i'm a bit disheartened as nothing has been done since my last visit back in june.. am waiting for the consultant's office to call me back with a code still !!!.. when i called last week, she didn't even remember me.. and hasn't got any record of any appointment that i had !! doesn't really bode well to be honest..

anyway - can you tell me (either on forum, or private email).. of your consultant's name as i really want a second opinion.. also..where did you have the op.. (i'm down south)..

thanks.. i'll try calling again tomorrow !!

also - was it relatively easy for you to get this done on the nhs ?.. as in no queue's, no waiting.. all paperwork went through easily etc...

thanks.. look forward to hearing from you soon

Hi there,

I had a mysterious lump removed from my left axil 5.5 years ago and they removed breast tissue and lymph tissue.  At first I thought the incision looked horrible and was outraged!  There was this weird-looking, bulged-out scar that looked like skin was folded over inside.  Very unsightly.  The surgeon assured me that it would be fine....and very slowly it became a thin line that now almost matches my skin color.

Hang in there.  Scars develop slowly and I think it took about a year before mine was flat and looked like just a scar.

i live in the caribbean where everyday is hott, hott, hott.  Everyone therefore wears strapless and armhole clothes even to work so u can imagine how i have been feeling always having to wear clothes with my shoulders covered.  I have consulted with one of the three only cosmetic surgeons on my island who has guaranteed me that the tissue will be gone after my surgery which is scheduled for March 25th, here's hoping it is.  Plus insurance here does NOT cover it!

I just had Ectopic Breast surgery Removal. One day i woke up with this huge fatty lump under left armpit. O had no clue what is was I just knew it wasn't cancer I waited 3 1/2yrs and it grew to the size of a large lemon. I had the surgery on Friday it went well. The scar is hideous but not noticable its under the armpit. They used glue for the procedure. I have little discomfort it was an outpatient procedure. Arm is sill sore and bruised but for some reason I feel a lot better
