Chlamydia is back with no intercourse

I am 27 weeks pregnant. At the beginning of my pregnancy I tested positive for chlamydia and was treated. I was tee tested and it came back negative. Here I am 2 months later testing positive againfor chlamydia. I have not had any type of intercourse at all. how is it possible I am infected again? The only thing I can think is I threw up a little while after taking the treatment for the chlamydia, however why when I was later tested did the test come back negative? Can anyone help, my doctor is also confused as to how this is possible due to the fact that I have not and any type of intercourse at all.

It's my understanding that you can't get chlamydia from casual contact.

http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=7992

The article above says that chlamydia can not live outside of the body and can not be passed via toilet or other means but is sexually transmitted (although you can get it in the cornea of your eye).  It is a minute possibility that if a drop of body fluid were on a toilet seat, towel, soap, etc. and it had JUST gotten there, it could be transmitted but it doesn't do so just by touching your skin.  It has to come in contact with your cervix, urethra or cornea of your eye.

Just wanted to get that information out there to help.

Actually, I've read that chlamydia can be dormant in your body not causing any symptoms but then flare up when your immune system is low.

anyway, I'd see your doctor and begin treatment again.  peace and luck

I have heard that it's possible to contract this disease from toilet seats, using the same soap as an infected person, or sharing under garments.  Not sure how true that is, but look into the possibility, - Blu

Hi there and welcome.  Sorry for the recurrence!  It is my understanding that typically with chlamydia ---  the retest three times after initial treatment.  Reason being is that it does take that long to be sure it has been eradicated.  So, it is not unusual for it to be back.  Get treated again and then test three full times after treatment to make sure it is gone.  Big pain, I know.  But worth being chlamydia free!  peace and good luck
