Hair is falling out and Missed period for 4 months

I stopped taking birth control in Jan. I had a normal period  JAN FEB and March, then it stopped. Its now July and I havn't had my period in over 4 months. I'm not pregnate, all tests.. home and blood are negitive. Plus I 've lost weight and have no other body changes that normally occure with pregnacy. Since I stopped my period I did go through a lot of stress and I quit smoking in Feb. I'm thought the stress i was under casued my period to stop. I never had a reugular period when i was younger. Now i'm really concerned due to the fact my hair seems to be sheeding at an alarming rate. So much so that my roomate's are noticing it. I'm 28 years old, and I had a child 9 years ago. I'm very concerned with what is happening. Can somone please suggest to me what could cause this? I called my Dr but he's out of town. My hair has been comming out fas for 4 weeks now. Please help.

Just wondering if you ever got a resolution to this problem.  I am having the EXACT same symptoms and am really nervous about what is going on with my body.  Also curious as to which birth control you were taking.

If you dont have a regular period, the hairloss might be due to lack of ovulation. The reason is that when you dont ovulate your bpdy doesnt produce enough prog/estrogen to block the minimal testostrone that female body prouces. Therefore, testostrone level rises which leads to hairloss. You may notice unwanted hair growing on your face as well. I think the problem is easily treatable, by inducing the ovulation. I would suggest consulting with your OBGYNs.
I hope this helps.

I have the same issue. I am also not pregnant, lost weight, and feeling fine. Yet Iam losing clumps of hair, and have not had a period in a month and a half. Could it all be stress by itself? What were your final results on the whole situation?

Stress can cause hairloss as well as missed periods, but I can't say that in that aspect of femininity I have been blessed w/ missed periods even though I'm always stressed. You have to understand stress affects all women differently and you could just need a hot relaxing bath, and the hairloss could also be from the shampoo your using. they have very harsh chemicals in there, I've had the hairloss issue before and to correct it believe it or not was changing shampoo. I found Garnier Fructis sleek and shine (more natural than most w/ fruit extracts) helped reduce the amount I was shedding. I went from a hair brush full of hair in one day to the same amount in two weeks, and I have long hair. Try this momentarily while Doc is out. I feel ya hunny and hope this works for ya!!!!
