Hi there. Typically, seeing a gyno once a year is enough and even a general practitioner can easily take care of your early gynecological needs such as prescribing birth control and a pap smear. :>) Otherwise, what you can request if your mom is good with it is that she take you to the doctor and sit outside. Otherwise, you can do a clinic such as Planned Parenthood where your parents don't have to be involved at all but then you pay yourself for it (generally set up to be inexpensive for young ladies needing care). So, you can see a doctor on your own but they do usually want parent involvement in that decision. But if you don't want them in there during a pap, that's reasonable or if you have private things to talk about. As a mom, I hope you can talk to your mom about things but know that can be hard at times. good luck
I took my 16 year old to my ob gyn and she met with the Nurse Practitioner without me. If you have your insurance information, you can schedule your own appointment. Your medical information is private to you if you prefer.
Planned Parenthood is an excellent option.
Hey I don't know your situation, but any doctor can prescribe birth control. If you can talk to your mom about it, do. But if you can't, lie. Say your periods are horribly irregular and you need to see a gyno. You can lie to your parents but never lie to your doctor. I'm sure your mother would rather have you tell a lie than be a teen pregnancy statistic. Be safe, and use a condom anyway because STI protection and I dunno how much you weigh but most hormonal BC pills lose effectiveness the more over 165lbs you weigh.
