just look at it this way when they say it is a gush sometimes it is not with my oldest my water broke at home but it was like going to the bathroom on myself and when i started have the cramps i was in labor for 12 hours already and she almost died because the hospital said i just used the bathroom on my self but dont worry when you go into labor you will know your body will tell you even if it is your water breaking at work dont stress about it because that can cause some problems too

I was in the pool and had felt my son's head moving down to the 'exit'. I had forgotten that my waters hadn't broken and then I felt this 'pop'. I actually thought I had torn but my friend and midwives let me know that my waters had just broken so I was quite relieved. My son was born about 2 minutes later! When I had my first child (my daughter) the midwife broke my waters to induce labour and it feel a lot like I had peed myself.

i remember for my 1st pregnancy, my waterbag burst (i was 39 weeks and 2 days) at about 10  plus in the nite, after watching a comedy show.  I told my hubby that my water bag just burst, he tot i was jokking with him becoz of the comedy.  After that, then he realised that I was telling him the truth. We have a quick shower and then left for the hospital.

My water broke in the hospital manually by the MD. I was definitely a screamer. I felt like the exorcist, I was screaming at everyone and I didn't want anyone to touch me. I also had a placenta abruption which is really painful compared to regular labor, so I am hoping with this next one (which I am attempting drugfree) that I can manage the pain and be alot nicer. I just remember thinking labor can't possibly feel like this, I thought I was dying. I never had real contractions, where you get a break. For about 9 hours of the 18 hour labor I bled everywhere and had nonstop ripping pain. So, please God I hope I never go through that again. I have 20% of havign another placenta abruption with this one...hopefully not. I have heard wonderful stories though from all my friends where their labor was much calmer and painful, but manageable. But I guess so was mine or I wouldn't have gotten pregnant again :) Good luck, and just remember your breathing techniques and don't eat, and avoid really hot baths and shower they make you feel faint and it raises both heart rates.

With my first and last I had to be induced. First I guess u all know by now and last because he was 6 weeks early and I was spotting and wasnt taking any chances. To be honest I thought I was leaking so I went in for that aswell and they said there was a little less but nothing on my undies, and cos I got so worried from what happened the first time I tried to feel inside if I could feel anything and I was dilated at least a cm and all of a sudden the water broke to my relief, I had to catch it on the pad to show my midwife to induce me.

My second was a natural break, but I have no idea when. I just remember the midwife saying there was a flood on the floor after he was born! It took her ages to clean it up poor thing!

more more more birth stories u girlies!!!

Do any of u guys scream really loud or swear or go a bit nuts? Im pretty quite -ish! I dont scream but I remember when I was waiting to be seen once I heard a woman screaming her lungs out!

I was a the hospital both times. With my first, they had to break it for me, and the contraction after that was hell...i'd lost my cushion.

With my second child, the midwife had thought the sac had already ruptured, because she couldn't feel any fluid, turns out it was just really low (41.5 weeks), but it did rupture on it's own, when I was close to 10 cm. I had been in for an ultrasound the day I went into labor, and it wasn't until 3 days later that the clinic called my midwife to tell her to get me in to have the baby b/c my amniotic fluid was low...thank God I had the baby the same day.

I was a lucky one, both times it was in the hospital. First time it was broken for me, the second time I was waiting for the doc to come break it and it broke on its own : ) I have only had one friend who had her water break outside of the hospital and it was right as she got out of bed that morning. She was way overdue, been dilated to 3 for weeks, it was finally her time : )

I went through a same thing, with my second, the nurse had literally just placed my catheter and was disposing of the packaging. All the sudden...swoosh...my water broke. It took me a second to process it "did I just wet myself...no, she just placed my cath...hmm...OH WAIT that was my water" I felt so silly for those fleeting seconds while my brain processed it,lol.

I was 2 weeks "late."

I was 39 weeks.  I had just gotten out of the shower and was standing in the bathroom.  My husband and I left for the hospital and 15 hours later my son was born.

My first child: at home, 11pm...right after the shower and when I was getting ready for bed. I was exhausted, to say the least.
Thank goodness I was in my nightgown, without underwear. haha
I looked down and there I was, standing in a puddle. It was an "odd" experience, that's for sure.;-D

The other 3 were forced at the hospital.
