Yaz and side effects and benefits

I was told that Yaz is a new birth control pill.  I am used to 7 days of placebo pills rather than only 4.  Is Yaz's concentration any different from the common birth control pills? Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills?  What are the side effects?  What are the benefits?  Has FDA approved?  Where i can search more about Yaz?  Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy?  Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills.  is that true?

I can't believe the amount of 'bad side effects' stories mentioned here.
In my opinion, Yaz is the best thing that ever happened to me.

I first tried the injection contraceptive,  but i felt way to  'manly' on that, and then I changed to Minerva as my sister and a close friend was on it and they had zero side effects - but i literally got every single negative side effect you could (like most of the ones mentioned) especially crying.. there wasn't a day that went by that i didn't cry and then i changed over to Yaz after chatting to my sister in law who uses it and i am a totally different person.

I love Yaz and what its done for my marriage.  my husband and i aren't constantly fighting anymore, i love my life and i feel like i got my old self back again. And i haven't had an emotional crying outburst since i started.

I sincerely hope that many of you find the right pill and don't have to suffer with such terrible side effects.Yaz definitely was the best choice for me.

I have also experieced bladder issues since this pill.  I have been on antibiotics a few times due to bladder issues which were caused by YAZ. It is extremely painful on my bladder and I am now going to my doctor frequently for further testing. I would not recommend this pill to anyone.
Many docs say it's great for mood swings and skin, I rather walk around with both issues mentioned that to experience symptoms of a stroke or bladder issues as I am.
Must outweight the good and the bad, however, the bad seems to be truly bad!!!

I was on YAZ for about 8 mos. I thought it was a great pill because for the first few months I had no symptoms or bad reaction to it.
However, it started about 3 mos. into the pill that I started having horrible side effects, such as sweats, dizziness, headache, very light headed and heart beating super fast to the point that the only solution was running into bed because I felt that I was going to pass out from all these symptoms. At first I didn't know what was wrong, until I myself noticed that the only thing I had been doing different was adding this pill into my system.  I actually wanted to wait it out and tried it for a few more months, eventually had to give it up because the symptoms continued, and they were all symptoms of having a stroke, kinda of scary being alone with a six year old. I am happy to say that since I've stopped YAZ I feel completely normal again.

i'm 16, i just started my 2nd month of yaz and it's like bittersweet for me. for the first couple weeks, i had major nausea and vomiting and i was absolutely bipolar. then after that stopped, i had the munchies 24/7. my first day taking birth control, i weighed 127, i now weigh 142 and i JUST started my 2nd month, i have neverr been able to gain a pound. i went from a 0 to a 2. also i have been very careless and lazy, and i have no sex drive. but i kind of like the idea of weight gain:) i think it looks good on me and i have short light periods and no cramps everrr. and now my emotins are more stable.

I loved being on Yaz (I was on it for several years), because it regulated my irregular cycles. Also, when I was feeling mad or sad I knew that it was PMS (and that I wasn't really crazy), because I knew exactly when I was going to start.

I did have immediate weight gain of at least 10 lbs in the first 6 weeks.  My bra size when from a B cup to a DD.  That sounds great, but trust me it isn't when your clothes don't fit anymore. Still, I liked having a regular period at the same time every month.

Then I went to an endocrinologist to have some blood work done.  WOW! He immediately sent me to two specialists (a hematologist and a nephrologists, because my blood pressure was thru the roof (I am 33, in good health, and zero family history of blood pressure problems).  Also, my kidney and adrenal gland levels were WAY off.  I also have SEVERE B-12 and B-6 deficiencies.  All three doctors agreed that the Yaz was causing these problems.  I switched to another low estrogen pill, and after several months all of the kidney/adrenal gland levels were ok and my vitamin levels had improved.

I am sure that all of you have either gotten spam emails about Yaz and Yasmin saying how bad they are....well I am here to tell you that it isn't worth it to take either of these brands.

I was starting to wonder if I was going through a mid life crisis - a tad early.  Side effects never occured to me until I recently saw a disturbing documentary on drug related side effects and decided to look up the effects of YAZ.  To my surprise...I felt like I was reading a day in the life of me - all the same side effects:  feeling sad/verge of tears, really tired, hard to loose weight despite training for a marathon and eating right, weird food cravings and bad skin.  Thanks to all for sharing your experiences because it's helped me realize what my gut was telling me - get off this birth control.  Everyone's body is different but the commonalities are just too similar for me to dismiss the warnings.
