Yaz and side effects and benefits

I was told that Yaz is a new birth control pill.  I am used to 7 days of placebo pills rather than only 4.  Is Yaz's concentration any different from the common birth control pills? Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills?  What are the side effects?  What are the benefits?  Has FDA approved?  Where i can search more about Yaz?  Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy?  Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills.  is that true?

This July will be my two year mark starting YAZ, I haven't had any symptoms with YAZ, at first I lost weight, but now I'm worried about continuing. Do you think if I continue on this product long term I will experience these side effects?

Hi all - looking for some answers PLEASE. I am 25, I am 7 days away from completing my third pack of Yaz. Before this, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclin for 6 years - no complications, but did have pretty strong PMS and emotions during my period. The past week now I have had nausea, dizziness and especially the last 3-4 days rapid heart beat and shaking. I don't know what this is from. My boyfriend and are extremely cautious and use both BC and condoms - so I highly doubt I am pregnant. I take my pill in the morning, and about 20-30 minutes later the symptoms start to come back from the day before.

I am currently out of town and cannot go see my OBGYN. I don't know what to do. Any ideas? After reading these I feel like I should stop immediately but don't want to deal with the consequences of stopping a pack half way through. Help!

I was about to go on to my second packet - then reconsidered.  Although i have had pretty good luck with Yaz so far; no mood problems, i have had some major headaches.  But unlike others - i am 47, very sexually married and trying to lose weight.  At 47, it's already an uphill battle not to GAIN weight AND lose your sex drive - why the hell do i want to gamble?
Best of luck to everyone .....  Ps. the IUD is a good alternative.

I am so relieved that most of you have experienced the same negative effects as I have on Yaz BC. I was on this BC for about 4 years! At first I thought it was wonderful. It cleared up my face to a perfect complexion, stopped the cramps, gave me bigger boobs, and regulated my cycle. Over time I became completely uninterested in sex. It has been hard for my husband to deal with (and me too) and I had no idea why I didn't even have a sexual thought anymore. I had a healthy sex life before this pill. Over time I gained weight (about 15 pounds) and started getting leg cramps and pain that was continuous. I went to a podiatrist thinking that something was wrong with my feet because I have to stand up a lot at work. He made custom orthotics but still I was miserable. He suggested my symptoms were more like PAD! Which can be a side effect of YAZ!!! I was so frightened I quit taking them about a month ago.

Since then I noticed an immediate increase in sex drive which has been great. Also, I feel less depressed and have a lot more energy. My face is still clear but I am really worried that the acne will come back. My feet and legs seem to be improving but the pain is not completely gone yet. I am done with Yaz. It is totally not worth all the scary side effects.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!!! I am convinced I have made the right decision!!!
