I need to know what my options are to rid myself of excessively long periods. My history... 35-year-old female. I have a 15-month-old child. I suffer from PVC's/PAC's. Have taken several birth control pills since age 16 to control cycles. I have had break-through bleeding with each one I have taken. The least symptomatic for me was Ovcon-35. Periods are about 7-8 days on pill, 14-17 without the pill. Periods are every 28 days or so. After daughter was born, I started my period again at 5 months postpartum, even though I was breastfeeding. First two PP periods were only 6 days. Thought I was cured. Then the third was longer, 8 days. Up until last month, the periods were averaging 8-10 days. Not on BCP currently. This month I think I am going back to my old ways. I have been lightly spotting since last Friday (3/20), today is Friday 3/27. The heavy part is no where in sight. I can usually tell when my period gets to the heavy days and I don't feel it at all. So, today is day 8. Even if I start the heavy bleeding today, which for me, last 3-4 days, I will have a 12-14 day period. I spot the last 1-2 days. I do not want to go back to the BCP because of my heart arrythmia and my age. I really want a hysterectomy. I do not want more children. I am so over these long periods. They negatively affect my quality of life. Am I crazy? Are there doctors out there who would suggest a hysterectomy for me? If so, where are they???? Do I have alternatives? Please help!!!
