Hi There

The good thing is is that you are both still young and plenty of time to find out why your having irregular periods etc. The best thing that you could do is have a little notebook and write down the date your period started and finished then when you go to your doctor at least your doc will have some idea what maybe happening.

Of course there is ovulation kits but i guess not a good idea for the moment until your menstrual cycles can get sorted in order for you and your husband to concieve.
Try not to worry hun, Good Luck ay

ovulation typically occurs 14 days after the first day of your menses, the discharge is usually thicker clear and stretchy similiar to the clear portion of a raw egg. So try and not to have sex 3 days prior to ovualtion to your husband has plenty of sperm and do not go to the bathroom after sex or the sperm may fall into the toilet. Confirm ovulation with BBT.

BBT charting won't tell you everything, but it will certainly answer a lot of questions you have.  Unlike OPKs, charting will help you confirm that you are Oing.  That's only one of many reasons you shoud try charting though.  Charting is not hard at all, but there are a few things to learn before you start.  Pick up a copy of the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler.  This book will be an invaluable resource for you.  You can also visit www.fertilityfriend.com  It is a pretty good website.  Also, since you have been trying as long as you have you are eligible to see a fertility DR.  I don't know if you are ready to take that step, but you may want to consider it.  Best of luck to you.

Calling on our wonderful ladies here who can offer some information on charting for this young lady.

I will see if I can find some info for you as well. I hear www.conceptionstore.com has some good info. I personally have used their ovulation calendar, but that may not be too helpful given your varied cycle. Surely someone will have some good advice to offer.

Given your age, having an irregular cycle is somewhat typical, stress also contributes to throwing it off. Generally, a normal otherwise healthy couple should be able to conceive within a 12 month period if actively trying to do so. Many docs will ask a couple to try for a year before running tests. You are close to that time frame so it may not be a bad idea to run this past your gynecologist.

Yet again (starting a trend) I agree with freak, invest in ovulation predictor test to help you pinpoint when you ovulate or use my yet unpatented personal method, try having sex every other day from the end of your period until you expect it to start again.

There are a ton of women around Medhelp who can offer advice on basal body temps, tracking cervical mucus, and charting all of those. I'll type a follow up post to this one and see if I can call some attention to this post for you.

Good luck!

you could try ovulation predictor kits. otherwise, if those don't tell you when you are ovulating, you could try charting your temps (there is alot of good information about how to do that on this forum and the maternal child forum). If neither of those methods work, you should see your ob/gyn so testing can be done. Good luck to you and your DH. **babydust**
