How long have you had GM?

Hello Ladies! Just wondering how long have you all been dealing with this disease? I think thats the hardest part for me is accepting this is a chronic disease. I could deal with the pain if I only knew there was a expiration date. Its been 6 months for me now since I was diagnosed. I guess after reading the article Jennifer informed me of those women whose symptoms completely resolved with no treatment after 14.5 months I'm hopeful!

Since March 2009. I had two emergency surgeries while pregnant as they thought the abscesses were infectious. Then eventually was properly diagnosed after more cutting in the office and a biopsy that I still have a scar from. The prednisone for 5 months which helped only initially. Then a gradual weaning of the prednisone and a change over to holistic medicine which was much more curative. No flare-ups since November 2009 although some leftover pain and soreness. Soreness still continues but otherwise I cannot call this disease chronic for me. It is pretty much resolved. It can happen ladies!

I got my first lump in November 2010 and was diagnosed with GM in late December after a core biopsy. I had a second core biopsy in January 2011 to confirm my diagnosis. I got a second lump in March and as of Sunday now a 3rd lump. I have had multiple drainings including an attempt at eachof my 3 lumps today. I started taking prednisone and methotrexate almost a month ago and am hopeful the combination will help.

I've been dealing with this booby mess since Sept 2010 had a surgery in Oct 2010 not knowing that it was IGM :( or else I would have looked for other option. Sometimes doctors terrify you so much making you feel like if i hadnt got that abscess surgically removed back then I woud have probably died with that stuff..... I feel sorry for myself n for everyone suffering from IGM. Only wished I had done this research before undergoing that surgery.
Surgery is over but after shocks like an earthqauke still remains on my body. Its recurrent abscess phase right now.

I found my first lump in May 2007 and had my last surgery in September 2008.  I got pregnant with my third son in December 2008 and oddly enough, that combined with prednisone, seemed to "do the trick".  I haven't had an IGM flare up since then, although I still have weird crap pop up from time to time.

July 2010. Weird to think it's been that long already.

My symptoms have really calmed down, though, in the last few months. My doctor did see what could be a deep-down abscess forming recently, though. We'll see...

I have had it since 2007.  Buutttt - a lot of the younger ladies seemed to never get out of their first episode, and ended up in terrible pain and symptoms and double mastectomy.

Mine has been managed differently, much more conservatively, from the getgo, also I believe my age and perimenopausal state (when I became sick with GM) and now that I am fully menopausal, I think this has helped.

I have a feeling there are many different triggers for this disease...mine, while not a walk in the park, and although it is obviously chronic, did not have some of the devastation that my friends on this board have endured.

I would say my disease is more moderate, but also more chronic that most.

13 months for me. My symptoms have been *better* for 3 months, though...not gone, but better, so I am hopeful that they will continue to resolve. This is such a scary disease because you can't really know how long it will last. Every time any of my lumps hurt or change, I am afraid that they will develop into a new abscess. Anyway, since my body is doing so much better, I am trying to think of new ways to give it a boost - I have been trying something similar to lymphatic massage. I have only done it for 2 days so far, but I think it helps. I have been drinking those cold eeze packets. They're just like a vitamin mixture with vitamin C, etc. that is supposed to boost the immune system. My chiropractor suggested this, and I figured it couldn't hurt. I went to Whole Foods yesterday and got tone of greens and healthy food. I have a bad habit of eating really healthy foods half the time, and then really unhealthy foods the other half...so I'm going to work on that. Which are the best "healthy habits" that you guys have?

I think I can round up to about 5 months. 4 since an actual diagnosis. I am definately walking away from the drugs and waiting this out. However, I have the advantage of being in menopause and not having to deal with monthly cycles. I think if my symptoms were more severe...I would do differently.
