I was using honey for a long time, months, during which I had a few bleeding episodes. I don't think that they were related to the use of the honey. Lill asked a question about bleeding a while back and I answered her with a detailed account of my bleeding episodes. I am sure you'll find it if you search around.
Hi Amy,
Sorry, I thought I responded to this. I'll look up your other posts. I've been using it for about a week. I thought my incisions looked better after a few days of it, but that might have been wishful thinking. Then the incision that is the most healed (thought still open) stared hurting again. When I changed my bandage I found that it had started bleeding again and had practically seeped through my very absorbent covering. My surgeon wasn't concerned and the bleeding stopped sometime the next day. My husband thought that perhaps I should stop the honey, but I'm too interested to see if it will help anything in the long run. At this point, we feel like it's worth a shot. Thanks for your reply.
Margaret Ann: Yes. As far as I know, I am the only one in this forum that used Manuka honey. It was not recommended to me by a doctor. It used it on my own. I have written about it a lot in this forum - just look up my entries. There was a period when my disease was very bad, two sinuses were draining out of one large whole and an inch an a half away another was draining. I had not been diagnosed yet and I was not yet on prednisone. The honey did not close the wound or heal the wound. I had hoped that it would. But it got me through the day with much less pain than I probably would have had if I had just bandaged myself up. I continued to use it while I was on prednisone until that wound healed up. Now I have switched to something else - calcium bentonite clay - which I have also written about.
