Autoimmune diseases

Hi ladies
In my quest to try to come to terms with this disease I have been reading up on autoimune diseases. I have worked out that my endometriosis, psoriatic arthritis and GM all come under this category. All the females in my close family have a variety of autoimmune diseases also but not as significant as mine.
I wondered if any of you researched into this and if so what was the outcome.
When I was about 12 I had mastitis which I wonder if it was GM.
I did not have any further problems until I reached adulthood.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer this vague set of questions.
Julie

I have never had any autoimmune diseases as well. All my blood work came back normal. I believe that my autoimmune system has been compromised by my work. I chose a third shift Health Care Aid position before my son was born 8 years ago. I worked part time. I did not really make up the sleep. I became pregnant and stopped working for one year when he was born. I went right from nursing him in the middle of the night to working several nights a week. I would cat nap and stuff, but did not establish a healthy sleep routine. This has been my life for the six and 1/2 year since he was born. I have become vulnerable to every bug that hits the schools. I get sores on my eyelids every summer (I think they might be allergy related, but several have had to be removed surgically) and now I have IGM since November 2010. I pay a little more attention to getting sleep...my husband works from home now so that makes disappearing easier...but...I am hopeing between 1st grade starting, switching shifts, and prednisone doing magic I can overcome this. My problem is that Prednisone is becomeing really NOT FUN. My friend want me to stick with it because there is some improvement. My doctor is letting me call the shots. And you are all here encouraging....but also warning me of the dangers. It is all good. just scarey.

Hi Julie,

I do not have any other autoimmune diseases. I did have an autoimmune panel blood test, which didn't show anything. All of my weird autoimmune-type symptoms (which are definitely not limited to my breast) started with the IGM. I have never had regular mastitis - even when I was breast-feeding, I never had any problems. I did have an intraductal papiloma right after I finished breast-feeding, on my L breast, and had to have a duct removed...that was quickly followed by the first symtoms of IGM in my right breast.

Hope some of this info helps.

Jennifer
