I have a lump like that aswell, i dont know what to do though as i cant get an appointment at the doctors until late next week. I, doing my third year of beauty therapy at college and alot of my treatments are to do with draining the lymph fluid around the body, i have only just recently started this couse and i think its to do with the treatments ive been having, is it wise to have them at the moment.  I dont want to take any time off from college, but it is painful.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
It is difficult to comment without examination.  Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis, lipoma (localized collection of fat), an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). However swollen lymph nodes behind your ears could be due to chest infection, dental problem, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, dandruff, infection of ear. There are many other causes for lymph node swelling, but these swellings will come gradually and not pain to start with.
You are right about showing this to a doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
