itchy scrotum

For nearly a year now, I've been plagued with an intense itching involving my scrotum, ..primarily under the base, but frequently affecting the sides of my scrotum, & the itching also extends along the area between my scrotum & my anus.  The itching is most promounced & severe at night, after I go to bed.  It will be an intense, almost unbearable itch, & the more I scratch the itchier it becomes, & then I feel a burning sensation. I went to my family doctor & he said it was "jock itch"...I bought some ointments/creams but the problem persisted, & still exists, & this has been almost a year since this problem started!  I fear I may have a STD...HELP!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis, infections like STD’s, pinworms, fungal infections, lichen simplex chronicus or eczema. Since you have been having the itch for such a long time, so I would definitely suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get a biopsy done to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.

Polyester in socks and the elastic does the same thing to you!
Leather shoes with leather bottoms. Not vinyl bottoms. All leather.
That is the answer. Oh and no socks until you manage to find 100 cotton ones. Good luck with that though. JC penny has some low tops which are okay.

And the more you scratch it the worse it gets right?!
It is not an std. Unless it is connected to genital warts which many people have.
I think, and I repeat "think" it is an immune disorder. What disorder? Allergic reaction? To what? The polyester in your underwear threads!
What!!!! you say?
That's right. The longer and firmer the center crotch stitch touches this areas, this mild allergy many people suffer from but never know starts to act up at the point of contact.
During the day, you stand more, and your immune is up along with your PH balance. At night your bodies own Buffering system buffers your PH down. This is so that you become tired and slow down and sleep. Lower PH means less oxygen to the brain and body. Less of that means the brain begins to strain and become tired for lack of oxygen to keep it running on high. Exercise brings PH up and is why you think clearer after a good workout. Simply by more oxygen to the brain. And of coarse release of certain hormones and chemicals.
But back to your problem.
Also at night when the body is tired, it's defenses are lower. And thus it comes on then. To add to that, during the day you stand more and the seam of your boxers is hanging down away from that sensitive area. And at night you sit more and it becomes too much having this pressed against you for long periods. You see folks, 100% cotton clothing has at least 40% polyester in the threads however. Wear boxers inside out and not up tight to that spot. And do not scratch it you will make it worse! I know that is hard to do. Not scratch. I have that at times too.
I also suspect it may be an undiscovered viral infection just like but that is a guess.
I do know that sweat can increase it even if it is the polyester threads. Either way do this:
Get yourself some 90% rubbing alcohol. And when it itches, douse the area with it. Get plenty on until you feel the heat. After doing it a long time you won't feel much heat, but just put the same amount on as usual.
This will stop the itch and over time kill any bacterier that may  be there contributing to this. Don't ask what cuz I think it may be one too that contributes but is undiscovered as of yet. Like The papalova virus or however you spell it went undetected for years. Remember, if there is a treatment, they don't search for a cure or to find the real cause.
It doesn't just come at night guy. It comes when you are hot too. Something like a hive. And allergens can give a hive or two anyhow.
When you shower: Always end by making water cooler and cooler, until that area is very cool! You will have to use your hand to guide the water under there good.
Rub the cold water right in!
Anyone with genital warts, this works well for too. Cold and alcohol.
Ladies be careful. It can sting. Men, watch the tip of you know. It heats up and burns some on the tip. But do the whole area. This is how I keep it at bay! The only thing that works. I f I lotion this whole area it get worse. It has to breath. So don't block pores with lotion!

Now, also you may have noticed you have other symtoms, but maybe not yet or you won't. So tell me. do you have any of the following?
1. Any tiny blistering anywhere? Where you leg joins the body etc... it can itch there too when hot.
2. Any small reddish spots that are slightly raised like a goose bump? Or non red but tiny bumps on your belly just above or under your waistline of pants?
3. And of those spots on your upper arm in the back "tricep area"?
4. Trouble sleeping for your mind just won't quit?
5. an overall sense of irritablility mentally.
