eps/rfa in a 2 yr old with svt wght of 15.5 kgs

i have been researching the treatment options for my 2 year old who has svt. he has been on the max dose of digoxin for the last 8 or 9 months with little effect. his doctor has suggested doing a catheter ablation on him, given his wieght of over 15 kilos.  the other consideration is the number of times he has been in the e.r and p.i.c.u and the heart rate of 250 bpm and higher when in svt.  should we consider rfa at this time?

This discussion is related to SVT medication and its consequences.

Yes, it's Pediatric Cardiology. I'll try to add a link here but if I'm doing it wrong, click on forums at the top and scroll down to the "P" section. You'll find it there.

Wow, I wish I knew the answer. At 33 lbs he's still pretty small. Have they mentioned anything about the size of his blood vessels at this age? I've had 3 ablations but I'm much older and my vessels were easy to access. I do think an ablation is in his future but I don't know how risky it is for someone his size and age. I hope someone else can help.

And I think there's a pediatric heart disease forum on here some place. Their children are dealing with heart problems and they would have some answers. Let me go look.
