Constipated?

I'm 19 weeks and 4 days. I was just wondering, is anyone having problems with constipation? I have started to use Benefiber, Colace, and I'm drinking more water but nothing seems to help. All it does is leave me feeling uncomfortable and in pain.

my dr. had me start taking colace (over the counter) because it doesn't get absorbed into the baby. helped me!

Thanks guys for the comments. I'm loading up on the water and I started drinking green tea. I cut out the fiber supplements and it seems that my stomach feels better. But today my doctor put me on iron pills. I read that taking iron pills causes constipation.... so I guess I'll continue to be constipated until the baby's born.

I've had IBS for almost 10 years, and the constipation I'm experiencing during pregnancy is very similar to when my IBS acts up. I just try to drink A LOT of water and eating fruit and/or salads at night seems to help as well. You can also try ginger tea and see if that helps. For me, taking fiber supplements seems to make it worse. You need to drink a lot for water for your body to process the fiber properly and it seems to just make me more dehydrated and backed up. Going for a walks helps get things moving as well.
