Since I work nights, my 9 year old daughter sleeps with my wife every night.  Is this healthy for my daughter as far as her developing her independence?

I hope you and your wife are not having a dispute about this because such tension will have an adverse impact on your daughter. Whether you work at night or not should make no difference about where your daughter sleeps. She should sleep in her own bed. If the current practice continues you'll be dealing with this for years to come. It's best to get it solved right now.

It's really simple. You set a firm limit, doing so in a patient and supportive way. You tell her she must sleep in her own bed and then follow through.
