high bp

I have had very labile high blood pressure over the years(since early 30's). I am a 47 year old female. I am presently taking Olmetec 20 mg OD and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorthiazide OD right now and thought I was well controlled, even running quite low at times. My father had a bad stroke at the age of 65 and has left sided paralysis. He had HTN for years.
Because of a 3 year history of shortness of breath, cough, dizziness, I had a cardiopulmonary exercise test done yesterday. The doctor said I had a normal resting BP but during the cycling, it went up to 225/140. he is planning to do a stress echo to find out why. I have had elevated pulmonary pressures on echoes in the past (48 being the last one) but a right heart catheterization showed a pressure of 30/8 and normal wedge pressure. I have no LVH though he said my last chest xray showed a "funny looking heart" around the ascending aorta. he is supposed to ask the cardiologist about that.
My question is, what would cause my BP to only rise during exercise and shouldn't I have been put on some medication until they found out what is wrong? I am worried I am walking around with sky high BP and will have a stroke.

Dear Friend,
The dosage of drugs as well as they type of medication needs o be titrated with the findings in your "Stress Test". Since the normal resting BP was normal, and the Stress BP was too high, correct dosage needs to be given. This is a standard practice , followed world wide, for prescribing the medicines, and the way to prescribe, depends upon the analysis of the findings, obtained during the "Stress Test".
I hope all is done by now.
Please discuss, as how is the present condition.
Regards

I would look at any medications you might be taking. Also, if you are under any stress.
