My legs have itched for a while now... I have went to the doctor three times in the last year, and everything I have went they told me it was something different and given me different medicines and creams. Nothing helps. It's itchy, and bumpy, but you can't see a rash. It hurts too... Like a needle is poking me like crazy! I scratch my legs so bad I get scars.... Doctors say stress, but I'm a 14 year old girl and have no stress... They aren't too helpful.
I have read several comments posted about itchy legs and I too have this ailment and has had it for some time now. I tend to itch if I wear nylon, after a shower, after swimming, or just sometimes at any given moment without having done any of the above. What's funny though, if after swimming I get into the hot tub, I'm perfectly fine, no itching at all. I only have the itch on my lower legs; on occasion my thighs will itch but usually it's my lower leg. It has been so severe that it has brought tears to my eyes and frustration to my scratch because it's as if I can't get down to the "root" of the itch to scratch it away. As soon as I get out of the shower, I grease up with Vaseline and immediately put on white knee socks or pants. That sometimes helps but I still have an itch or two. My itching bouts can last anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes. It is so immobilizing. When it happens, it's so hard for me to do anything other than scratch. I have tried a cream by the name of Amlactin, and it did help a little.
Hello,
Skin rash is not the only symptom of gluten sensitivity and it includes other symptoms like gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea, flatulence, gas and bloating. Other symptoms may include joint pain, fatigue and headaches also.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
I have the same problem: itchy lower legs, no rash. The itch can be as severe as poison ivy at times, but, again, no rash. I have to wonder if this is due to an allergic reaction of some sort. For example, one hears a lot about gluten these days. I'm not a new-ager, but others in my immediate family have said that they have developed gluten sensitivity. Does a gluten sensitivity reaction always include a rash?
Hello,
If the itchy legs are due to urticaria or atopic dermatitis then giving leukotriene inhibitors may help in resolving the itch. However this is not the specific treatment and for the specific treatment, we have to identify the cause first. The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify. Most cases are called chronic idiopathic urticaria, which means they're caused by the body's unexplainable development of antibodies to itself (auto-antibodies).
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
