Scan results

I've been having pain around my ovaries and in my abdomen for over two years now. My periods have been a bit hit and miss too. Dr did several tests and just recently I had a scan of my stomach, ovaries and kidneys. Got the results back and the receptionist just said that everything was normal. Does this mean it's definately nothing serious and can I now stop worrying? If it was cancer would it have shown up on the scan? Thanks

Well I told the nurse I wanted it looked at as me and my partner want to have a baby and she said everything looks fine and to start trying to conceive.

If your test was an ultrasound, it is moderately useful for excluding anything serious like a cancer. Cancer can never be fully excluded as no test is perfect.  But from what you describe, the test result was reassuring to your doctor - have you discussed the results with the physician?  I definitely advise a follow-up discussion and if he / she feels comfortable with this test or if more are needed.  best wishes,
GC
