Hi John,
well the reason that we are doubting desquamative vaginitis is bcos my ph levels and lactobacilli have returned to normal and yet the profuse ischarge continues.
I did 2 months worth of cream, clindamycin an then clindamycin mixed with clobetasol, and within 3 days of stopping the cream, my symtoms were back to profuse. I also tried a short burst of oral steroids with no noticeable improvement. there is also no improvement with boric acid or antifungals
Ive been tested for everything under the sun, chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, hpv, aids, mycoplasma, diabetes, hormone levels after coming off oral contraceptives for a few months, allergies, rheumatoid factor, had ultrasound, had colposcopy, had biopsy.,Anything you can think of I have most probably been tested for, I am definitely not postmenopausal, I am only 24 years old! lol., I also don't have the intense pain that most people seem to have with div. ive been trying to find a site which shows pictures of different inflammatory conditions of the vagina to see if I can find anything that matches but I cant seem to find anything,. do you know of any sites?
Hi again,
From what your pathology report mentioned it doesn't fit the description of vaginal adenosis. I wouldn't discount the possibility of desquamative vaginitis based upon the biopsy findings. I'm sure it's a rhetorical question but have you had any other testing performed? Hormone levels? Are you postmenopausal? I just happened across several posts here on this site talking about inflammatory vaginitis and what people have tried. Might be worth taking a look at!
John
Hi John,
thanks for your reply. are there are coditions you can personally think of that may show these findings?such as desquamative vaginitis or vaginal adenosis?
my symptoms are unbearable (profuse discharge). every doctor says the same thing, that they can see that there is "something"going on, but don't know what it is and therefore don't know how to treat me, and I cannot live a normal life with my symtomms being as severe as they are.
ive been tested for everything, over and over again,, nothing ever shows up escept very regular yeast problems, but sometimes, absolutely nothing except the profuse discharge.
Thanks for your help
Hi there,
Thank you for the question and I apologize for the delay in answering. As far as the pathology report goes it sounds like what we call a "descriptive diagnosis." By that I mean sometimes that there isn't a black and white name to give what we see on the biopsy, so we just describe what is there. Fortunately in your case there doesn't sounds like that there is any evidence of cancer. There is a little bit of loss of the top layer of cells and the blood vessels are a little swollen. I know that this probably won't give you the answer you're hoping for but sometimes no news is good news. Please let me know if I can provide any additional clarification.
Thanks,
John
