Baby was diagnosed with Group B Strep (GBS)

I was in the hospital for 4 days (2 days in labor ward, 2 days in maternity). Baby and I were discharged with a clean bill of health, but later that night, my son's body felt heaty and he was soooo irritated. We checked his temperature and it was 38°c and rushed to the ER and got admitted. Doctor said he had GBS infection. The thing is, I was already tested during my 36 weeks and it came back negative. I gave birth on 40 weeks. Is it possible for it to suddenly pop up, and should I visit my obigyn to get treatment? My next check up with her is 6 weeks later. Baby is already healthy by the way!

GBS happens in your body naturally. You could have it one week and not the next. Glad your baby is good! That can be scary when baby has it. You can always call your OB office if you're worried for yourself.

I was induced, had my water broken artificially at 9am (gave birth at 8.42pm), and had like the longest labor ever. Skimmed through some articles (was busy with the LO. Hehe), and some say it has something to do with having the baby inside for too long after the water broke.
