I have 3 children. My middle child who is 5 cries all the time. If you say no she cries. I don't think there is really a full 20 mins that passes before she starts her crying spats. Normally I just send her to her room. She has been doing this for at least two 1/2 years. Getting to the point I want to take her to a doctor. Is that really the right thing to do though?
My 5 year seems to cry out of control only at school which is disruting his class. He's Teacher can not get him under control and I have run out of things to say and do. FRUSTRATED
Dear Shelly,
Five-year-olds are learning how to manage the emotions associated with disappointments. You already recognize that your son doesn't cry all the time, literally. Rather, the times he cries are often connected to frustration of his wishes.
As he matures, he will develop greater capacity to manage his sadness and anger - but this takes time. You are doing a good thin by helping him to use his words to convey his thoughts at such times.
