Options for not going a whole week to two over due

Can your doctor make you go to 41 or 42weeks if you go past your due date ? Or can you have them induce you on your due date ?
#Really dont like that idea nor does it seem safe.

My baby girl is measuring a week ahead in sonos too. And shes due the day before my birthday. Id be fine carrying her a couple days over. But not an extra weeks or two .. It doesnt sound safe i believe theirs articals on babies ending up with their cords wrapped around their necks

Currently in this situation. I was due on the 6th. They make you wait about 10 days after your due date because it's really not safe to induce labor if the baby's not ready. Keep in mind your due date is just a estimated day you should give birth not the actual day. If I don't have the baby by Sunday I'll be induced the 16th.

10 days is the longest they would let me go. Had an induction scheduled at 9 am and she came at 6 am on her own 9 days after my due date. It was personal choice to wait so long, they would have induced a week earlier if I wanted. I have heard it's different by where you are from. So you are going to have to ask your ob what they think and what they prefer. I never heard about the cord wrapping around their necks from going past your due date. Just heard that after 10 days the placenta is less likely to be functioning and it's pointless to keep them in.
