tattooing over freckles

Hi. I am a 50-year-old woman. I have fair skin and have had my share of bad sunburns, especially as a child so I always have this fear of developing skin cancer down the road. I have several tattoos but none on freckled areas. However, I am now wanting to start a tattoo sleeve. My question is, should some form of skin cancer develop, would the tattoos mask the signs or would it still be noticeable? I don't have any concerning areas on my skin as of now. Thank you for any advice you might have.

Often, lesions that turn out to be melanoma are slightly raised, so you could feel them. It's going to be more difficult to spot signs, but not impossible as long as you are vigilant and check your arms regularly.
