ANA SCREEN POSITIVE,PATTERN SPECKLED,TITER1:80

HAVE BEEN HYPOTHYROID FOR 20 YEARS TAKING SYNTHROID
HAD THE FLU DURING MARCH 08,VERY ACHY JOINTS ALL OVER
AFTER THE FLU CONTINUED TO HAVE SORE FINGERS
WENT TO DOCTOR AND GOT ANA POSITIVE, SPECKLED PATTERN, TITER 1:80
SED RATE IS 5, RHEUMATOID FACTOR IS 3
SHOULD I GO TO THE RHEUMATOLOGIST

Hi Paul, I also got the same result but my doc didn't seem concerned (even with my whole host of symptoms) if you read my posts. Including a fluctuating TSH. I am wondering what your thoughts are? Thank you and wishing the above patient all the best. Feel better soon!

Hi there!

Your speckled ANA pattern along with your other symptoms might suggest a Lupus diagnosis. And yes, I suggest you have a consult with a rheumatologist to make the diagnosis and have you treated.  He may order additional tests pertaining to your kidneys such as urinalysis, ultrasound, etc.

You may be in to a long period of tedious treatment if this is indeed lupus and you need all the help and support that you can get.  Keep your loved ones close by and I'm hoping for your recovery.
