HIV worries

i am really worried. I had sex with a seually worker about 17years ago without protection. Few weeks latter i had phenomonia now i feel healthy.
But in 2001 i had ghonoreia after having sex with a sexual worker again.
Now i feel okay but my Girlfriend want me to carry out a blood test i am so worried i could still have the HIV in me not yet materialising.
Roughly how long does it take for HIV to take full effect
is there any need for me to worry about any of this illness even though have not slept with a girl for almost two years.

I've read Dr HHH 's comment.He said 9 years is long enough to show symptom;few people who have HIV that long and don't show any symtom.
