hi can you buy these anti-histamine medications over the counter
thankyou
Hi,
Since you are not responding to either of the two medications which are commonly prescribed for inflammatory scalp conditions then it could be an allergic reaction going by your symptoms.
Maybe you could try taking anti-histamine medications like Cetrizine/Loratidine and see if you get any relief.
Also try and apply something cool on the head, like menthol-based cream/lotion to try and alleviate the burning/itching.
ive had this condition for 2 months now,i did have highlites in my hair at the hairdressers 2 weeks before do you think this could have caused it? is there any shampoo ican use or anything over the counter i can use till i can get back to my doctors as i am going on holiday tomorrow thankyou for getting back to me
Hi
For how long have you been experiencing this scalp irritation?
If this is the case, then seborrheic dermatitis, fungal infection and an allergic reaction may be differentials. Also, parasitic infections may be considered. I suggest that further evaluation be done. Cases of irritant dermatitis may present with irritation devoid of a rash. So if you have any previous history of allergies, then this likely may be an allergic reaction or a dermatitic skin condition secondary to an irritant.
You may take oral antihistamines for this. Discuss this with your doctor prior to taking medications. Skin scrapings on the area may be obtained for further evaluation and to ascertain if fungal infection is present.
