Does anyone know of a relief for stabbing pain in the left hand side of the head?

Does anyone know how to stop the pain? I have been having short stabbing pain in the left hand side of my head intermittently all day and last night could not sleep, i have been having this pain for a few years, but not this bad, it shoots through my temple knocking me for six, i feel dizzy and sick, painkillers do not work, does anyone know what will?

Do this breathing exercise with concentration and with eyes closed, and this will help with the head pain. The extra oxygen going into the brain will help. The effect is gradual, so be patient and allow a few weeks to see the benefit. Come back to report your progress.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

I am having the same problems. Severe shooting/stabbing pains in the left hand side of my head along the top of my head. They are random at times and the stabbing lasts for a second then goes away. It will last for several hours at a time. Sleep does usually help, but if I have to be up and about, the pain is quite severe.

Im not a doctor but a similar thing happened to me last year. i think your experiencign migrains. A migrain is a sever pain in a specific location of the brain (diff for most people) for me it happened in my visual cortex and i was experiencing HUGE blindsots and things. i was quite worried. Doc told me to just sleep it off, first checking with nerologists. Id go to the doctor but i think its just a migrain
