hi, please look up sherry brescia on the net and you will find an alternative to surgery, cheers.
My life was almost not worth living after my gallbladder was removed. I thought that since my gallbladder was gone, the attacks would stop as well, and they did for a while. I really thought I was going to die. I read about sphincter of Oddi dysfunction on the Web and realized I had it. I've been taking Flexeril 10mg right before bed for several years now, and it's given me my life back. Try searching the web for "sphincter of Oddi dysfunction" and see if it sounds like what you're going through. If so, and if you aren't allergic to it, ask your doctor if you can try Flexeril and see if it helps. Good luck!
Greetings. New to this group. I had my gallbladder removed on Nov. 26, 2008, my major surgery. My surgeon said my gallbladder was the second worst one she had ever removed. Lucky me! Five days in the hosp. then home for rest and "do nothing" for 2 months. Well, it's been 5 weeks, and I still am hurting inside under my scar, which is up under my right breast. My surgeon said she had to cut the muscle and then resew it after removing my gallbladder. I had 3 gallbladder attacks before I had it removed. I thought I would never have another attack again, and hoped I could eat nearly anything, including fried foods. Last week after a pork chop dinner, about any hour later, I burped up that sour stomach taste, and knew this was the beginning of another unpleasant 24 hour period of sickness. I was right. I began to get sick to my stomach, (both ends) and had terrible burping and these were the exact same things that happened to me before the surgery. I called my dr. who was off last week because of New Years. I called my surgeon, who was also off last week. I felt better again, after all the food was emptied out of my stomach, but that 24 hours was terrible. Only this time when I threw up, I had my incision scar which is healing, and it felt like it was pulling open from the inside. I doubt this, but that's how it felt.
So I see on this community that I'm not alone here. I call my surgeon again on Monday, Jan. 5th, to schedule an appt. about this. I am very frustrated from still being in alot of pain after more than 5 weeks, and now I'm scared to eat nearly anything. I am living on Instant Breakfast and water. I would appreciate any feedback regarding my symptoms. I will post again after I see my surgeon. I have to agree with some of you, that I wouldn't have had my gallbladder removed if I had known that the recovery time and chronic pain was going to be so bad.
Good luck to us all,

Moussie, you may not be able to eat anything you want. You may want to consider following a low fat diet. A lot of people find that they're unable to process fats the way they did before surgery and your best defense is to go low fat to give your body a chance to adjust.
