altered nerve sensations a year following oral surgery

what suggestions do you have for prolonged numbness a year following oral surgery to have dental implants inserted. I have had one implants removed due to terrible pain from the implant sticking into my lower lip. Now the left side of my chin and lower lip is so painful I leave my dentures out most of the time. I keep them in while at work, but I'm in misery all day. There is severe pain in my upper gums at night. I sleep with my head elevated to an almost sitting position. My dentist and oral surgeon don't have any suggestions. Is there anything I can do to relieve the discomfort?

thanks for your response. I sleep upright to releive the swelling in my lower lip, which is worse when my head is even or lower than my heart. I plan to make an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow. thanks for the suggestion..
