TSH HIGH

I have not been feeling well, I have gained 30 pound in the last 8 months, even though I have been exercising and I have been eating salads and drinking a lots of water. I am hot all the time, sometimes my friends are cold and I am so hot I have to get a fan. I am very irritable lately and tired. So I went to the Doctor, I had a blood test; they told me that my TSH was 5.9 which last year was 2.7.  I went to my general doctor and he is telling me that there is nothing to worry about, and that there is people with 100 something TSH and they do not have any symptoms. I just don’t feel right even though the doctor is telling me that I should not have any symptoms and that my weight is not related with my TSH, that I should not be blaming my thyroid. Do you think that I should worry??? Do you think that it is related???
Thanks for your help...

This discussion is related to High TSH level, but it feels like my body is on overdrive, not slowing down.

Have to agree with Rachel4, find another doctor.....

My TSH was 5.90, and my doctor told me she wants me to be 1.0. She was treating my symptoms....

Please get a second opinion. You need to be on medication.

5.9 is high! Especially if you are symptomatic.

The doctor that told you that people with 100 don't have symptoms is a bozo. Find a new doctor that will help you get to being you again!
