Solid mass found on right ovary

I started out with all at once bloating like I was 5 months pregnant and having quite a bit of pain..couldnt really pin point where the pain was coming from..I did notice that when my bowels would move that the pain got excruciatingly(word?) worse..so I ended up going to urgent carebecause  it wasnt getting any better..they sent me to have a ct scan done which showed I had a cyst on my right ovary..ok then he set up to have a tranvaginal ultra sound done...the results came back that it wasnt a cyst and didnt really think it was cancer but for me to see my gynecologist as quickly as I could..2 weeks later...Shes telling me I have an enlarged ovary with a 3 cm solid mass and that the ovary needs to come out..set up blood tests, pap smear and the results from that came back normal..ca-125 level was 11. ok now im trying to decide do I want her to do the surgery or do I really really need to get a gyne. oncologist to do the surgery?? She explained to me that the difference was that a gyne. oncologist was a little better at staging than a regular gynecologist and a regular gynecologist was a little better at staging than a general surgeon...I do know that sometimes these tumor markers are not always accurate as there have been cases where the level was normal and do surgery and find cancer...I did lose my grandmother from ovarian cancer, she was 56 years old. Id really appreciate any advice you can give me.
Thanks so much!

Thank you Anne for replying back..I actually had surgery done yesterday. My doctor felt fairly sure that it wasnt cancerous but said the pathology report would be in in about 3 days. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to me..it really means alot.

Hi There,
I am so  sorry for my delay. I suspect you probably have that ovary out by now. Most completely solid masses are benign such as fibromas
You have had a good evaluation and probably a regular gyn is fine but I would defer to your doctor
best wishes
