THE DIFFERENCE IS COMPENSATED =LIVER DISEASE DAMAGED BUT STILL WORKING NORMALLY.DECOMPENSATED = LIVER DISEASE DAMAGED NOT WORKING NORMALLY.HOPE THIS HELPS.
Are you taking any other medication? Sometimes in combination with the tx meds, there can be a reaction. Otherwise, your doctor must have some reason for not thinking it is an amonia problem. Ask about it again.
I had decompensated liver failure w/ very high ammonia. In my opinion, it doesn't just "go" away. I was on medication fot several weeks. It's called Lactalose. It's a stool softener, but for some reason the ammonia attaches itself to the medication. I am under the impression that is the only way to get rid of it. I would get a blood test, to find out, but not be unduly worried.
