dont know how far progressed your husbands liver disease is but for many with cirrhosis low platelets are also accompanying the hepc. i recently found out that platelets are what carry seratonin to the brain. no wonder many of us have been depressed. ive had low platelets for several years. go figure.
Sherr - your husband may be acting out because of his diagnosis and upcoming treatment, maybe he is worried and fearful and takes it out on others by showing anger, irritability & meaness, maybe it is his liver that isnt working right and causing the change in his personality. Ask as doctor about it either by phone or on your next vs. He should definately address this, as who wants to expose you and your child to hostility, when a medication &/or counseling can help.
Newtex - glad that site helped you out! I was amazed at how many topics about Hep C are addressed there, its kind of the Heppers Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Disease
kinda place to visit! I did the same as you, read and researched and tried to learn as much as I could while I was waiting for my treatment to begin and after starting it, I've been here ever since! They even have a live chat room at janis7hepc. Well, I had a nice Thanksgiving Day with my hubby's family. I was snappy yesterday and this AM but my mood got better luckily...I didnt embarrass him too much. LOL.
Hugs ya all, my fellow heppers, OHC/Auggie
I got a little snappy at my family there for a while, did not know what was makin me that way. Then I got sick and they did not know what was wrong with me. My liver levels got hi and stayed up so the Dr. gave me a liver biopsy and found the HCV. It was a little backwards from the norm. Anyway I saw a brain DR. and he put me on Paxil and told me that HCV adds to the mental stress. Plus your hubby's liver is not doing its job right and that can effect his demeanor. Talk to a mental heath person and your DR. about this, they can help.
It's tiring being a hepper but hep c doesn't make you mean.Tell him to take a chill pill.Take care
First of I'd like to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all...If you are able to read this...be thankful......I am 1a with cirrhosis starting tx in a couple of weeks. I have been reading, studying, obsorbing everything I can get my hands on about hep c..cirrhosis...different kinds of tx and reading this forum daily. I guess it's my way of dealing with everything and it makes me feel like I'm doing "something" until I start tx. The website that oldhippiechick posted on this thread is Fantastic..THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! someone on an earlier thread made the statement that "knowledge is power"..the more we read the better chance we have at finding things that will help us cope during tx. I do not...will not...do this alone. Thanks again and God Bless
My husband was diagnoised as Geno type 1-A...viral 9 million...we are waiting for Hep specialist on Dec 16. I watch this forum everyday, my Question is I think I understand Riba -Rage, but my husband not on any TX but is always raging, and his basic personality is quite the opposite. Is this part of the disease? My little girl is baffled by his "meaness" and I'm ready to kick his butt. I know he is sick but gezz maybe I can take this BS if I know it is part of hep C without treatment. Please enlighten me..
Hi HappyHepper, Happy Turkey Day! Go to this site on janis7hepc for a nice detailed report on interpreting biopsy results:
http://www.janis7hepc.com/biopsies.htm
Scroll down about half way and you will see paragraphs titled "what is fibrosis" "What is bridging" etc. They tell you different grading scores, like Child Pough...but I didnt see Ishak. Doesnt mean it isnt there, I just didnt see it.
Good luck to you!
