how accurate is the blood test result

Original Blood sample was taken on 20.11.2006 by the Lab. Tests were done for LFT's and ALt was 62. I went to collect the report on 5.12.2006. Doctor then ordered Additional tests for Hep Bs Antigen, Hep B s Antibody and Hep C Antigen. The results were all conclusive and negative. I am just concerned that since they tested the same old blood specimen taken on 20.11.2006, ie around 15 days old, the antibodies and antigen might have vanished from the blood specimen. Does this ever happen?

I would not think that could happen but I would ask your doc. As for you ALT it can go up and down. If you drink it can go up, if you take Tylenol it can go up. Anything you do that processes through your liver can cause your ALT to be high it is not only hep that can do that. Hope this helps and ask you doc about the blood.

It would be more a matter of antibodies/antigens not having had a chance to develop rather than disappearing that soon after possible exposure. If you're still worried, have another sample drawn now.
And if that's negative and you still can't get it out of your mind, have another one done at six months after possible exposure.
If that one's negative and you're still worried - that's between you and your shrink.

Just re-read your other post. Since your possible exposure was back in May, you should stop worrying *now*.
Why so worried? Do any of the guys you fooled around with test positive or use IV drugs?

Thanks for your reply. Im pretty sure they dont use IV drugs, but not sure if they are positive to Hep B or C. I have only ever had 3 partners and only had encounters with them on 6 occasions in total which were deep kissing and mutual masturbation where they came on my hand. And as soon as they came , i would wash my hand with soap and hot water. I dont think i had obvious cuts or wounds on my hand. I have never had anal sex receptive or insertive , never given oral sex or used the other guys precum or semen as lubriucant. I have only had oral sex performed on me 2 times which lasted 3-4 minutes with no ***. my ALT was 62, but Hep B s Atibody and Hep Bs Antigen were negative, and Hep C antibodies were negative as well. HIv Antibody is also negative. Doctor thinks its fatty liver as Cholesterol and Triglycerides are high as well. As you said, Given my exposure was in May, my body would have made antibodies if i had the infection. Just my silly mind thought that given the blood sample was 15 days old, the antibodies and antigen might vanish from the blood. Hope that doesnt happen

lol
That would be quite the trick making those things selectively vanish from a blood sample. Yeah, it's just your silly mind.

P.S.
If you can find yourself a nice, monogamous relationship (gender, species, phylum of your choice - I'm not judgemental) you could get as nasty as you want without having to obsess about this stuff. Just a thought.
Good luck.
